Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chan Sung Aoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Boyd McGuire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGuire is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Five Finger Death Punch - The Way Of The Fist. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chan Sung Aoki! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 6 - 2, fighting out of New York, Boyd McGuire! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shirou Masuda and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Aoki tries to clinch up. McGuire just misses with a punch to the body.
McGuire finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Aoki tries to land a front kick but McGuire steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Aoki moves out of range of the strikes. McGuire throws a leg kick but Aoki sees it coming and moves out of range. Aoki closes the distance and pushes McGuire back into the cage. Aoki prevents the takedown attempt.
McGuire has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Aoki after a bit of a struggle. Aoki struggles to land a body shot inside as McGuire controls his hands.
Aoki swings away with an uppercut that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Aoki doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
McGuire breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Boyd McGuire seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. McGuire misses with a double jab
and Aoki connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Aoki throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Aoki swats away the attempt to clinch by McGuire.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aoki throws the kick towards the body but McGuire avoids it. McGuire tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Aoki manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. McGuire has Aoki up against the cage in a clinch.
McGuire throws a punch but it's blocked by Aoki. Aoki tries to work over McGuire's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. McGuire breaks from the clinch.
Aoki bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. McGuire misses with a wild body shot. Aoki throws a head kick that misses. McGuire tries to counter with a clinch but Aoki shakes him off and moves away. McGuire looks to throw the jab but Aoki is out of range. A slapping leg kick lands for Aoki.
Aoki has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Wrecking Crew Elite MMA in the buildup to the fight. Aoki lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Aoki avoids the body shot from McGuire.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Aoki feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. McGuire looking for a guillotine here but Aoki defends easily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Aoki won't allow McGuire to sweep him here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. McGuire is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. McGuire trying to control the position.
McGuire keeping full guard, as Aoki tries to pass. Aoki postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Aoki trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. McGuire has momentary wrist control but Aoki slips an elbow through the middle. McGuire trying to keep a closed guard but Aoki is proving a slippery customer.
McGuire is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Aoki is aware though and is defending well. McGuire keeping moving, preventing Aoki from controlling successfully. McGuire has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Aoki is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for McGuire. McGuire gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Aoki is working for a kimura but McGuire is defending it quite comfortably.
McGuire tries to roll over but Aoki keeps him under control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Aoki not landing any meaningful shots this time. Aoki scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Aoki has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Aoki prevents McGuire from improving his position. Aoki lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. McGuire looking for submissions off his back. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Aoki landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chan Sung Aoki dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from McGuire. McGuire fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Aoki checks it well. Aoki gets caught flat footed, as McGuire shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Aoki pulls McGuire in close to his closed guard and prevents McGuire from doing any damage or advancing position. Aoki escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McGuire gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. My spies in River's Edge Gym, DOW inform me that McGuire has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! McGuire with a flurry of punches that miss. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Aoki bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in McGuire's guard. Aoki trying to control but McGuire is working from the bottom. McGuire throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Chan Sung Aoki overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. McGuire manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Aoki manages to get himself to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aoki tries to land a sweep but no joy. McGuire slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Aoki tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. McGuire working the ground and pound from side control. Aoki is being controlled here. McGuire thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. McGuire trying to control the position but Aoki is working away. McGuire working the ground and pound. Aoki is not in a great position here, taking some shots. McGuire lands some shots froms side control. Aoki is trying to control McGuire's posture but McGuire avoids it. Aoki takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McGuire is chipping away with strikes.
Aoki can't do much from the bottom here. McGuire cracks Aoki with a big right hand but Aoki just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
McGuire connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Aoki some visible discomfort.
Aoki is not content to let McGuire control the position. Aoki is looking for a sweep. McGuire has hold of Aoki's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Aoki seems comfortable defending it but McGuire has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Aoki is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Aoki is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but McGuire couldn't care less - he's delighted!
