PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Eric Draven (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stone Flail (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Flail has chosen Check Yourself Before You Wreck Yourself by Ice Cube as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eric Draven!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Stone Flail!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flail scores with a nice body kick.
Nice cross by Flail.
Flail moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Draven throws a front kick aimed at Flail's knee but Flail avoids it well.
Draven takes one on the button.
Draven shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Flail but Flail pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Flail.
A looping hook to the body misses from Flail. Draven does a little dance to reset his feet.
Flail tries to bum rush Draven with a series of wild strikes but Draven uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Stone Flail seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Flail lands with a slapping head kick.
Draven blocks a head kick by Flail.
Flail moves into range and connects with a jab.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Flail ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Draven throws a wild body kick that Flail sees coming a mile off.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Flail.

Flail throws a hook to the side of Draven's head but Draven sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Nice uppercut lands for Flail. That snapped Draven's head back.
Stone Flail is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Flail throws a hook but Draven blocks it.
Flail scores with a push kick.
Flail throws a right and a left that both miss.
Nice jab there from Flail.
Draven on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Flail. Flail obviously looking to wear him down.
Draven fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Flail thuds his right hand into Draven's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Flail lands a jab to the nose.
Flail swings for the body but Draven moves out of range.
Flail connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Draven's hands.
Flail throws a wild body kick that Draven sees coming a mile off.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Draven lands a slapping body shot.

Flail scores with a leg kick.
Flail with a nice cross.
Flail lands a head kick. Draven smiles back at him and beckons him forward.


Draven is rocked!
Flail missing with a left hand there. Draven was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Oh Draven is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Flail connects with a crisp jab.
Flail explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Flail misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Flail throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Draven pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Flail misses with a two punch combination.
Draven seems to have got his legs back now.
Draven feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Flail's calf.
Draven slips a jab from Flail.
Flail is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Draven had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Flail misses with a low kick.
Flail lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Draven takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Flail looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Draven throws a leg kick but Flail sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Flail misses with a head kick.
Flail lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Flail fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Draven.
Draven misses with a straight left.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Flail! But no joy.
Flail connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Flail looks to throw a body kick
and Draven counters with a straight right hand.
Flail connects with a looping right hand.
Flail tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Flail throws a quick inside leg kick.
Draven shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Flail but Flail pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eric Draven. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Flail misses with a head kick.

Draven misses with a double jab.
Flail fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Draven.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Flail jabs Draven right on the nose. Draven blinks but takes it well.
Draven throws a shot to the body.
Flail throws a sloppy head kick

and Draven decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Flail's guard.

Flail trying to keep a closed guard but Draven is proving a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Draven stands and throws Flail's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Flail is trying to buck Draven off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stone Flail dominated that round.

Flail misses with a hook. Draven ducked under it nicely.
It looked like Draven was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Flail scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
A head kick misses from Flail.
Flail tries a head kick but it misses.

Flail moves out of range of the body kick from Draven.
Flail tries a quick counter leg kick but Draven is wise to it.
Stone Flail seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Flail throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Horrible takedown attempt by Draven or perhaps it was just good defense by Flail, which made it look bad.
Draven moves out of range of the body kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Flail on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Draven feints and then cracks Flail's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Flail down.
Draven avoids the head kick by Flail.
A punch combination from Flail misses.
Draven tries to counter with a takedown but Flail is quick to defend against it.

Draven shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Draven wants to control from the top but Flail keeps moving.
Draven not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Draven is pushing down on Flail's leg trying to pass to half guard. Flail is fighting to maintain full guard but Draven has managed to sneak the leg through.
Flail has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Draven is trying to work for a kimura but Flail is defending well.
Flail wants to get back to his feet.

Draven is looking for a kimura here.
Draven uses his free foot to push down on Flail's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Flail.
Draven sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Flail is trying to escape the mount.

Draven throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Flail is desperately trying to improve his position but Draven has a good base and remains in mount.
Flail felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Draven controlling the pace for now.

Draven is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Draven!
