Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Maudsley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Sandford (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maudsley comes to the cage accompanied by Irigy HónaljMirigy - Irigy Oszkármirigy (Titanic song parody in Hungarian). Sandford is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Two steps from hell-Heart of courage. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sandford fails to land with a series of punches.
Maudsley lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Sandford misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Sandford looks to score with a jab to the body but Maudsley is just out of range. A counter left hand to the body from Maudsley misses its target. A lazy left from Maudsley finds it's target. Sandford uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Maudsley.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Maudsley is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Sandford. Left hook, right uppercut from Maudsley. Sandford darts in looking for a takedown but Maudsley gets double underhooks and turns Sandford into the cage. Maudsley misses with a looping right. Sandford doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Maudsley takes one to the side of the head.

Sandford tries to move into range but Maudsley moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Maudsley's corner calls for a 1-2. Maudsley obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Sandford will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Sandford bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. This has been an exciting period of action! Maudsley is pushing Sandford's head away, looking to escape. Sandford manages to hold on to the position though. You can see the frustration on Maudsley's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Maudsley is looking to reverse the position. Sandford throws a strike aimed at the side of Maudsley's head but Maudsley avoids it well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Maudsley looks to move to half guard but instead Sandford has passed into mount! Damn! Sandford lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Maudsley is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at HK13 LA, so we'll see if he gets out of it. Maudsley is looking to get to half guard. Maudsley manages to regain half guard. Good work. Sandford is keen to just control but Maudsley is a slippery customer. Sandford prevents Maudsley from standing back up.

Sandford connects with a massive shot to the dome!

That was a close round but I would say that Robert Maudsley will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Sandford rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Maudsley moves out of range and avoids them all easily. A momentary lapse in concentration from Maudsley enables Sandford to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Maudsley manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Maudsley is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
