PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kay Ector (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rajja Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ector comes to the cage accompanied by Monster!. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kay Ector!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 11 - 2, fighting out of London, Rajja Khan!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Andrew Berry and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ector scores with the left hand. Khan knows he should have avoided that one.
Khan lands a body shot.
Danga de danga de dang - Khan scores with a four punch combination!

Khan takes the fight into the clinch.
Khan leaning his opponent against the cage.
Khan is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Ector is defending well.
Khan can't break the clinch.
Khan tries a body shot but Ector blocks it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Khan wants a takedown but no success here.

Khan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A left and a right from Ector both land. Nice combination.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ector misses with a body shot.
Khan takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Nice defenses there by Khan.
Khan with the counter takedown but Ector avoids it easily.
Khan avoids a punch combination nicely.

Khan shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Khan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ector keeps working.
Ector wants to get back to his feet.
Ector is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Gym of the Gods, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Ector is concentrating on defense, preventing Khan from advancing position.

Ector is trying to stand.
Khan is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Khan is trying to control. Ector wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Khan in particular looking to stall.
Khan wants to control but Ector is keeping him busy.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Horrible takedown attempt by Khan or perhaps it was just good defense by Ector, which made it look bad.
Kay Ector has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rajja Khan.
Khan checks the leg kick.
Ector tries to clinch but Khan is having none of it.
Khan looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Ector jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Khan lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Khan doesn't manage to clinch there - Ector circles away.
Khan avoids the head kick by Ector.

Ector fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Khan manages to avoid it.
Khan tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Ector defends well and Khan ends up having to push Ector into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Khan fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ector sprawls well initially but Khan persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Ector moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Khan is in close to Ector's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Khan prevents Ector from getting back to his feet.
Khan not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Ector manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Khan manages to get himself to full guard.

Khan wants to sweep but no luck.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Khan is looking for a triangle but Ector pushes his legs off easily.
Khan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Khan is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Ector wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kay Ector will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Ector just misses with a punch to the body.
Khan tries to clinch up but Ector circles away and keeps his distance.

Ector gets caught flat footed, as Khan shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Ector looking for a sweep. Not yet Ector, not yet.
Rajja Khan has got the better of the ground game so far.

Ector pushes Khan off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Ector misses with a combination

and Khan moves into the clinch.
Ector wants to break free but Khan has control.
Ector tries to stall but Khan uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Khan has Ector pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Ector manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Khan has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Ector avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Khan avoids the body shot from Ector.
Khan tries to clinch there but Ector circles away.

Ector digs a good hook to Khan's body.

Khan follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.

Ector takes the fight into the clinch.
Ector lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Ector is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Khan can do to turn this around?

Khan manages to break the clinch.
Ector fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ector is looking to wear down Khan with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Ector throws a body punch but Khan moves out of range.

and Khan counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Khan.

Khan looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Ector wanted to stand there but Khan had control of the position.
Khan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Khan is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Khan is looking for a kimura but Ector is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Khan to get the leverage.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Khan seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ector does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Ector flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Khan with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Ector regains full guard. Nicely done.
Ector wants to get back to his feet but Khan is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Ector has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Khan off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Khan circles away from the clinch attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kay Ector dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Ector looks to land a combination but Khan avoids it well.
Ector throws a right hand that misses
and Khan counters with a big head kick but Ector shrugs it off.
Khan tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ector swivels and escapes.
Ector scores with a nice strike.
Kay Ector is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ector looks to score with a jab to the body but Khan is just out of range.
Khan fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Khan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ector.
Ector misses with a looping right.

Ector rushes Khan and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Khan is trying to pull guard but Ector turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Khan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Khan moves into the clinch successfully.
Ector is trying to force a seperation but Khan has the dominant position.
Khan is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Ector gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Ector's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Khan is trying to pull guard but Ector turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Khan jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ector walks away with a smile on his face. Khan gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Ector misses with a wild body shot.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Ector enables Khan to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Ector manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Ector is pulling down on Khan's head to control his posture.
Khan cracks Ector with a solid left hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Khan throws an elbow that misses. Ector uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Khan's guard. Nice move by Ector!

Khan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ector is one step ahead there.

Ector preventing the sweep.
Khan is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Khan wants to sweep but no luck.
Kay Ector is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Khan is working an open guard so Ector takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Ector wants to clinch.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Ector darts in and clinches Khan up against the cage.
Ector has Khan pressed against the cage.
Nice body punch from Ector.
Khan changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Ector fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Ector throws a series of punches but Khan moves out of range.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ector scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Ector throws a low kick but Khan avoids it.
Rajja Khan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Kay Ector showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ector, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
