PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ziba Halo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Francisco dAnconia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). dAnconia has chosen Revolution as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Francisco dAnconia!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Dillan Fox.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
dAnconia needs to keep his hands up - Halo had a free shot at his head there.
Halo pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Halo doesn't manage to clinch there - dAnconia circles away.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
dAnconia takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
An inside leg kick lands from dAnconia.
dAnconia throws a right and a left that both miss.
dAnconia throws a hook but Halo blocks it.
Halo throws a wild body kick that dAnconia sees coming a mile off.
The crowd cheers as dAnconia lands an impressive looking overhand right. Halo doesn't seem phased though.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

dAnconia chips away with some ground and pound.
dAnconia tries to free his leg and advance position but Halo is retaining full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
dAnconia lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
dAnconia thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Halo's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
dAnconia with the ground and pound but Halo uses the opportunity to regain guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as dAnconia accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
dAnconia throwing strikes but missing.
dAnconia has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
dAnconia wants to control from the top but Halo keeps moving.
Halo is trying to keep dAnconia in close.

dAnconia postures up in Halo's guard and throws a big left but Halo blocks it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
dAnconia moves out of range of the body kick.
Halo drops his hands momentarily and dAnconia takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Halo loads up on a big right hand but dAnconia slips the punch.
dAnconia fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Halo bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
dAnconia tries to improve position but can't.
dAnconia regains half guard.
dAnconia tries to get to full guard but Halo has control of the leg.
Halo is figuring out what he wants to do next.

dAnconia is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Halo trying to control from dAnconia's half guard. dAnconia has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now dAnconia is on top in guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Halo takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
dAnconia wants to slow Halo down by chopping away at his legs.
dAnconia slips a straight right by Halo.
dAnconia scores with a jab to the body.
An inside leg kick lands from Halo.
Nice takedown defense from Halo. No joy for dAnconia on that attempt.
Francisco dAnconia seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Halo feints a jab promting dAnconia to slip. Halo then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. dAnconia slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

It looks like Francisco dAnconia has been cut.

Halo forces dAnconia back against the cage and clinches.
Halo tries for a takedown but dAnconia manages to get underhooks.
dAnconia works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
dAnconia stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for dAnconia.

Halo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Halo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. dAnconia manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

dAnconia struggles to land a body shot inside as Halo controls his hands.

dAnconia lands with a hook. Halo tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

dAnconia closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Halo tries to roll over but dAnconia keeps him under control.

Halo regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from dAnconia.
Halo looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but dAnconia puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Halo makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Halo.

dAnconia is working Halo over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Halo pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
dAnconia tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Halo is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Halo tries to move into range but dAnconia moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

dAnconia has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Halo shoots in looking for a takedown. dAnconia tries to sprawl out of it but Halo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. dAnconia manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

dAnconia thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Halo if he has to take too many more of those.

dAnconia steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Halo. That one must have hurt.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
dAnconia pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
dAnconia lands a couple of good shots and Halo has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Ziba Halo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

What can Halo do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Well dAnconia has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Francisco dAnconia was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
