Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Diego Carlos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Diego Carlos was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Nathan Nelson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Diego Carlos! The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Daniel Franklin and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nelson jabs Carlos to the body, keeping him at a distance. Nice takedown defense from Carlos. No joy for Nelson on that attempt. Nelson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Carlos feints the counter takedown. Carlos shoots in looking for a takedown. Nelson tries to sprawl out of it but Carlos keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nelson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Nathan Nelson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nelson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Carlos circles away. Nelson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Carlos counters with a nice double leg into side control. Nelson won't be happy with that. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nathan Nelson. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nelson manages to work his way to half guard, despite Carlos's best efforts. Nelson wants to get back to his feet. Carlos is trying to control. Nelson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Carlos prevents Nelson from improving his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carlos looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carlos is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Nelson defends it well. Nelson is refusing to be controlled, as Carlos sits in half guard. Carlos wants to work for an arm triangle but Nelson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Nelson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Nelson. Nelson has control of Carlos's left arm, preventing Carlos from doing any damage. Carlos postures up.
Carlos trying to control the position from guard on top but Nelson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Carlos drops back looking for a leg! Nelson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Nelson manages to kick Carlos off! Carlos jumps back into Nelson's guard. Nelson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Carlos can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nelson seems keen to control Carlos's posture. Carlos stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nelson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Carlos trying to control but Nelson is working from the bottom.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. No luck with that takedown attempt from Nelson. Nelson moves into range and clinches up with Carlos.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Nelson is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Carlos jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Nelson walks away with a smile on his face. Carlos gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Danga de danga de dang - Nelson scores with a four punch combination! Carlos looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Carlos tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Nelson defends well and Carlos ends up having to push Nelson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Nelson closes the distance and pushes Carlos back into the cage. Nelson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Carlos pulls his leg out and moves away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Nathan Nelson will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Carlos closes this distance looking for a takedown but Nelson circles away. Nelson shoots for a takedown but Carlos saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Carlos has his takedown stuffed and Nelson counters with a straight right hand. A head kick misses from Nelson. Nelson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Carlos sprawls well. Carlos wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Nelson gets slowly back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nelson throws the kick towards the body but Carlos avoids it. Carlos has his takedown stuffed and Carlos takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Nathan Nelson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Diego Carlos.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nelson tries for a takedown but Carlos sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Nelson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Nelson is taking a breather. Carlos says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Carlos trying to control but Nelson postures up.
Carlos is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Nelson pulls his head out easily. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nelson controlling the action here. Nelson thows a huge punch but Carlos dodges it nicely.
Nelson wants to stand but Carlos has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Nelson is thwarting Carlos's attempts to control the position.

He's got his arms around Nelson's waist but Nelson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Carlos off to one side. Nelson misses with a few strikes there.

Carlos doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Carlos manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Carlos slips nicely into half guard. Nelson is not content to let Carlos control the position. Carlos is working for a kimura but Nelson is defending it quite comfortably.

Nelson appears to be looking for a big counter. Nelson pulls out of a head kick attempt.

"Ole!" shouts Carlos as he jumps to the side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nathan Nelson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nelson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Carlos is in Nelson's guard.

Carlos tries to free his leg and advance position but Nelson is retaining full guard. Nelson is trying to control the position but Carlos postures up. Carlos wants to control from the top but Nelson keeps moving. Carlos thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Carlos trying to control but Nelson is working from the bottom. Carlos drops back looking for a leg! Nelson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Nelson manages to kick Carlos off! Carlos jumps back into Nelson's guard.

Nelson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Carlos keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Nelson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Carlos but Carlos pushes him off and we're back to square one. Carlos changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Carlos fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Carlos looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Nelson is fending him off so far but Carlos persists. Nope, Nelson circles away and we're back to standing. Nelson misses with a head kick.
Nelson shoots in for a double leg but Carlos sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. And Carlos tries to counter it with a takedown but Nelson pushes his down on his head and steps out. Carlos drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Carlos wants to control from the top but Nelson keeps moving. Carlos trying to move into half guard but instead Nelson has managed to sweep! Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Nelson trying to move into half guard but instead Carlos has managed to sweep! Diego Carlos has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Nathan Nelson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Nelson trying to control the position.
And that's the end of the fight! Diego Carlos comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Nelson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
