8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jorjo Kozacz! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Vladimir Khabensky and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gonzalez lands with a right hand. Excellent takedown into side control there by Gonzalez. Kozacz is looking to reverse the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gonzalez wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kozacz, who protects the arm well. Kozacz takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kozacz is looking for a sweep. Gonzalez is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kozacz is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Kozacz tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Gonzalez presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Kozacz is desperately trying to improve his position but Gonzalez has a good base and remains in mount. Gonzalez working away from the top, dropping strikes. Kozacz is trying desperately to improve position. Gonzalez tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment. Gonzalez has good solid back control here. Gonzalez has the hooks in. Kozacz is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Gonzalez connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Kozacz to escape the position.

Kozacz is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Gonzalez is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Gonzalez has escaped and now he's on top! Kozacz looks winded! Kozacz wants to hit a switch here but Gonzalez passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Kozacz there! Kozacz can't escape the position.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Gonzalez punishing his opponent with strikes. Gonzalez lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Kozacz hang on? And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gonzalez is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kozacz can do to turn this around? Gonzalez's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Gonzalez shoots in and gets a takedown into Kozacz's guard. Kozacz looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gonzalez is one step ahead there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gonzalez forces his way into half guard. Kozacz is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Kozacz is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Gonzalez pulls his head out easily. Kozacz is looking to get back to full guard here but Gonzalez has managed to pass to side control instead. Kozacz tries to buck Gonzalez off but Gonzalez is having none of it. Kozacz is trying to work for a sweep but Gonzalez has mounted him! The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Gonzalez cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Kozacz is breathing heavily. Kozacz tries to get back to half guard but can't. BOOM! Gonzalez connects with a massive shot to the dome!

That's two minutes gone in the round. Kozacz tries to reverse the position but Gonzalez maintains control. Gonzalez controlling from mount. Kozacz is bucking up trying to escape but Gonzalez cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Gonzalez tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Gonzalez looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Kozacz is desperately trying to improve his position but Gonzalez has a good base and remains in mount. Gonzalez postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Kozacz looks a forlorn figure.
Miguel Gonzalez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Gonzalez landing strikes, looking to finish!
Kozacz is rocked! Gonzalez lands a big elbow - Kozacz is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Kozacz is forced to tap out!
