Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ron Lemieux (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aslak Aas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lemieux comes to the cage accompanied by Sliwa. Aas has chosen Nunnuka Nunnuka as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
32 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ron Lemieux! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Aslak Aas! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lemieux throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Aas sees it coming and avoids it easily. Aas looks to throw the jab but Lemieux is out of range. Lemieux blocks a head kick by Aas.
Aas throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Lemieux uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Aas. Aas misses with a hook. Lemieux ducked under it nicely. Lemieux moves away from the strike by Aas. Good leg kick by Lemieux there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Aas on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Lemieux is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Aas tries to clinch but Lemieux is having none of it. Aas moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lemieux has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Lemieux lands a few punches from side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lemieux is looking to take a break and control but Aas is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Aas wants to get back to his feet but Lemieux drags him back down.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Aas is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Lemieux will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Lemieux wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Aas, who protects the arm well. Aas takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Aas is pushing Lemieux's head away, looking to escape. Lemieux manages to hold on to the position though. Lemieux working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Lemieux landing a few strikes.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Lemieux grinds an elbow into Aas's temple. Aas wants to get back to his feet but Lemieux drags him back down. Aas takes one on the button. Lemieux lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lemieux tries to score with a low kick but Aas moves his leg out of the way. Aas steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Lemieux. Aas will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Aas replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Lemieux blocks it well. Aas drives through and clinches with Lemieux against the cage.

Lemieux scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Lemieux connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Aas jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Aslak Aas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Aas is looking to clinch but Lemieux is avoiding it.

Aas is looking to escape. Lemieux not landing any meaningful shots this time. Lemieux is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Aas reverses the position - he's now on top in Lemieux's guard. Aas postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lemieux is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Aas would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Lemieux working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Aas doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Aas manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Aas trying to stand up but can't free himself from Lemieux's guard. Lemieux has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Lemieux is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Aas would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Aas should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
