Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Thachticov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Klay Montez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thachticov's entrance music is Lil Jon - Get Crunk. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John Thachticov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Klay Montez!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Bart Greer and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thachticov cracks a nice hook into Montez's ribs.
Nice jab there from Thachticov.
A punch lands to the side of Montez 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Montez shoots in for a takedown but Thachticov shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Montez gets a takedown into half guard.
Thachticov wants to stand back up but Montez manages to pass into side control.
Thachticov tries to bench press Montez off him but Montez keeps the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Montez is trying to get an arm triangle but Thachticov is defending well.
Thachticov is not content to let Montez control the position.

Thachticov is trying to get back to half guard.
Montez working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Thachticov wants to get back to his feet but Montez drags him back down.
You can see the frustration on Thachticov's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Thachticov is pushing Montez's head away, looking to escape. Montez manages to hold on to the position though.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Montez trying to control the position but Thachticov is working away.

Montez is trying to get an arm triangle but Thachticov is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
You can see the frustration on Thachticov's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Montez throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Thachticov looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Montez takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

We've been informed that Montez has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
John Thachticov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Klay Montez.

Thachticov bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Montez's head backwards.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Thachticov tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Montez paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Montez doesn't succeed with the takedown
enabling Thachticov to counter with a crisp jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Thachticov dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Thachticov tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Thachticov throws a lazy head kick

and Montez counters with a single leg into guard. Thachticov didn't expect that.
Montez working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Thachticov's head.
Montez won't allow Thachticov to sweep him here.

Montez drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Thachticov dives on top into guard.

Thachticov will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Montez has a closed guard, preventing Thachticov from standing up.

Montez not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Montez is working an open guard so Thachticov takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Montez goes for a double leg but Thachticov avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Thachticov continues to drive forward.
Montez walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

and Montez counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Montez.
Montez with a flurry of punches that miss.

Montez is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Thachticov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Montez throws a big right hand that misses.
Montez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Montez drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Thachticov dives on top into guard.
Montez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Thachticov's guard.
Thachticov is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Montez can do to turn this around?
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Thachticov is on top in guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Montez takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Montez takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Montez darts in looking for a takedown but Thachticov gets double underhooks and turns Montez into the cage.

Thachticov scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Thachticov scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Klay Montez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Thachticov lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Montez slips a jab and a cross from Thachticov.

and Montez counters with a single leg into guard. Thachticov didn't expect that.
Thachticov can't keep his opponent in guard - Montez advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Thachticov keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Montez looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Thachticov pushes Montez off looking to stand but Montez dives back in and keeps control.
Thachticov regains full guard. Nicely done.

Thachticov wants to stand but Montez is controlling the position.
Montez slips nicely into half guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that John Thachticov will probably get the nod.
That's time! Thachticov's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Montez bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Thachticov is working to avoid the ground and pound but Montez connects with a decent elbow.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Thachticov is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Montez is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Montez controlling the position easily from mount.
Thachticov reaches up to try and control the position but Montez seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Thachticov rolls and tries to escape and now Montez has his back!

I really don't envy Thachticov right now.
Montez wants to control the position but Thachticov frees himself and scrambles - Montez manages to regain control in side control.

Montez working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Check out the look on Montez's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Thachticov is rocked!

Montez tries for a kimura but Thachticov is defending well.
Oh Thachticov is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Montez cracks Thachticov with a big elbow.

Montez looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Thachticov is trying to improve his position.
Montez works to advance to full mount. Thachticov defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Thachticov is trying to reverse the position but instead Montez has taken his back - oops!
Montez lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Thachticov hold on?!
Thachticov can't escape the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Montez lands a series of strikes from the back and Thachticov goes limp! The ref jumps in to save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:52 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Klay Montez!
