PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Rick Shore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jo Yabuki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jo Yabuki was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rick Shore!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jo Yabuki!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Glass and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice combination there by Shore.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Shore is defended easily by Yabuki.

Yabuki closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Shore's guard.

Shore has his feet on Yabuki's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Yabuki stuffs the takedown.
Yabuki is looking for the big counter here.
Yabuki tries a head kick but it misses.
Shore misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Shore looks to score with a jab to the body but Yabuki is just out of range.
Yabuki is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Shore throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Shore fails to land with a series of punches.
And Yabuki tries to counter it with a takedown but Shore pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Yabuki takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Yabuki dives in and grabs Shore's left leg, looking for a takedown. Shore pushes down on Yabuki's head and hops out.
Shore shoots for a double leg takedown but Yabuki sprawls well. He's pushed Shore's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rick Shore. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Shore misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Shore is breathing heavily.
A combination from Yabuki does no damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shore closes this distance looking for a takedown but Yabuki circles away.
Shore throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Shore keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Shore fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Yabuki looks for the body kick but Shore saw that one coming.
Yabuki closes this distance looking for a takedown but Shore circles away.
Shore shoots and misses
and Yabuki makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Yabuki throws a head kick but Shore moves out of range.
Yabuki fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Shore scores with a three punch combo!


It looks like Jo Yabuki has been cut.
Shore throws a right hand that Yabuki ducks under and follows up with a left that Yabuki also avoids with ease.
Shore feints a jab promting Yabuki to slip. Shore then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Yabuki slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Yabuki looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Yabuki throwing shots but Shore is blocking nicely.
Shore might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Yabuki is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Shore is just riding it out for now. Yabuki eventually gives up the hold.
Shore pushes Yabuki off looking to stand but Yabuki dives back in and keeps control.

Yabuki seems to be working for a kimura but Shore defends the submission attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Shore manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Shore lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Shore shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Yabuki eats them both and turns towards Shore to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Shore is working the combinations to good effect here.
Yabuki dives in and grabs Shore's left leg, looking for a takedown. Shore pushes down on Yabuki's head and hops out.

Yabuki is rocked!
We've been told by Shore's head coaches at Team Alpha Success that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Shore lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - Yabuki can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from Shore and Yabuki drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by Shore.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rick Shore!
A relieved looking Rick Shore thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
