PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sean Juan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pawel Konopacki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sean Juan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 15 - 0, fighting out of London, Pawel Konopacki!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Juan lands a nice shot to the body.
Juan fails with the takedown.

Konopacki uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Juan.
Konopacki shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Konopacki rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Juan counters with a three punch combo that has Konopacki backing up. Konopacki nods at Juan to acknowledge the strikes.
Juan fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Juan is defended easily by Konopacki.
Konopacki avoids a kick to the body.
Konopacki throws a sloppy head kick and Juan moves out of range easily.
Konopacki rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Juan moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Konopacki let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

Konopacki fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Konopacki.

As Juan backs off Konopacki throws a huge counter combo but Juan manages to avoid it all.
Juan works over Konopacki's head and body with a nice combination.

Juan slaps away a takedown attempt from Konopacki, before circling back to the center of the mat.

and Konopacki counters with a low kick, right behind Juan 's knee.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Juan throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Juan clinches up with Konopacki and pushes him back against the cage.

Konopacki fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Konopacki breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

and Konopacki counters with a shoot takedown. Juan fights it but they end up in guard.
Konopacki looking to sit in guard and control but Juan gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Konopacki seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Konopacki is looking for a triangle but Juan pushes his legs off easily.

Juan drops his hands momentarily and Konopacki takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Juan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Konopacki paws at him with a jab and circles away.

That was a close second round but I would say that Sean Juan will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Juan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Konopacki's guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Pawel Konopacki comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Juan has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
