Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jay Haffie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Gomez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gomez gets the takedown into side control. Gomez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Haffie keeps working. Gomez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gomez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Haffie manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Haffie looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Gomez prevents Haffie from improving his position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Haffie is working hard here to advance position. Haffie manages to get to full guard.
Haffie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gomez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Gomez trying to control but Haffie is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gomez gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Gomez fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Haffie has his takedown stuffed and Gomez counters with a shoot takedown. Haffie fights it but they end up in guard. Haffie is breathing heavily. Gomez works a leg free and moves into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Haffie is looking to improve his position.
Gomez keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Gomez seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Haffie does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Gomez trying to pass the guard but Haffie defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Haffie misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Gomez is looking for a kimura but Haffie is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gomez to get the leverage. Gomez missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Gomez with a lazy takedown attempt and Haffie counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Haffie passes Gomez's left leg - he's now in half guard. Gomez is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Gomez looking for subs from the bottom but Haffie mounts him! Haffie with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Haffie wants to control the pace but Gomez is squirming around nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Haffie is working for a guillotine from mount but Gomez frees his head quite easily.
Gomez is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Haffie looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Haffie thowing shots but they're missing. Gomez tries to reverse the position but Haffie maintains control. Gomez is squirming around, avoiding Haffie's attempts to control the action. Gomez tries to hold on but Haffie pushes him away. Gomez is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Gomez bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Haffie wants to sweep but no luck.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Gomez sitting in guard, not really doing much. Gomez trying to control the position from guard on top but Haffie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Haffie wants to sweep but no luck. Gomez seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Gomez preventing the sweep. Haffie manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gomez manages to get himself to full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Haffie is pushing down on Gomez's leg trying to pass to half guard. Gomez is fighting to maintain full guard but Haffie has managed to sneak the leg through. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jay Haffie will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Gomez fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Haffie, pushing him back against the cage. Haffie drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Gomez manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Gomez trying to control the position.
Gomez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Haffie doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Haffie manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Haffie wants to pass the guard but Gomez is keeping the position. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gomez controls Haffie momentarily but Haffie frees himself. Haffie working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gomez pulls Haffie in close to his closed guard and prevents Haffie from doing any damage or advancing position. Haffie drops back looking for a leg! Gomez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gomez manages to kick Haffie off! Haffie jumps back into Gomez's guard. Gomez controls Haffie momentarily but Haffie frees himself.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Gomez looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Haffie! Haffie is working to get back to half guard.
Gomez wants to control the pace but Haffie is squirming around nicely.

Gomez controlling from the full mount. Haffie tries to lock up and control but Gomez gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Haffie is desperately trying to improve his position but Gomez has a good base and remains in mount. Mark Gomez has got the better of the ground game so far. BOOM! Gomez connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Gomez takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Gomez tries to control but Haffie wriggling away. Gomez is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Haffie has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Haffie!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gomez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Haffie can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Haffie not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Haffie drops back looking for a leg! Gomez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gomez manages to kick Haffie off! Haffie jumps back into Gomez's guard. Gomez pulls Haffie in to control the position. Gomez tries to land a sweep but no joy. Haffie passes into half guard. Gomez is trying to get back to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Gomez moves into full guard.
Gomez is looking to stand up but Haffie isn't so interested in that idea. Gomez working a defensive guard but Haffie passes into half guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Gomez trying to control but Haffie postures up.

Mark Gomez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Haffie gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Gomez counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Haffie! Gomez trying to control but Haffie is having none of it. Gomez jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Haffie manages to avoid the submission attempt. Gomez controls the position. Haffie tries to improve position but can't. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Gomez has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Haffie is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Gomez yanks on the arm and Haffie is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Gomez.
