PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jason Lee Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Felix Sandoval (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scott's entrance music is Go, Go Power Rangers. A fine choice. Sandoval is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Overseer - Slayed. Felix Sandoval told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jason Lee Scott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Felix Sandoval!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scott misses with a looping left.
Scott lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Sandoval.

Scott sneaks out the side door and pushes Sandoval away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Scott throws a hook to the side of Sandoval's head but Sandoval sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Sandoval fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Scott to the ground. Sandoval is now in Scott's guard.
Scott wants to stand and escape but Sandoval is having none of it.
Scott is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Sandoval trying to control the position from guard on top but Scott is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Scott wants to get back to his feet but Sandoval is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Scott controls Sandoval momentarily but Sandoval frees himself.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Sandoval won't allow Scott to get back to his feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Scott misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Sandoval.
Scott fails to land with a series of punches.

Scott tries to sprawl but Sandoval drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Sandoval is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Sandoval has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Sandoval is looking for a kimura but Scott is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sandoval to get the leverage.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Sandoval lands a nice short elbow.

Scott is not content to let Sandoval control the position.
Scott is looking to escape.
Sandoval content to control rather than advance.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Sandoval closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Scott to the mat! Scott manages to get full guard.
Sandoval not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Scott manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sandoval manages to get himself to full guard.

Sandoval is looking for a triangle but Scott pushes his legs off easily.
Sandoval pulls Scott in close to prevent any damage.
Sandoval's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

That was a close round but I would say that Jason Lee Scott will probably get the nod.

Scott throws a sloppy head kick and Sandoval moves out of range easily.
Scott is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.
Sandoval fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Scott looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Scott fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Sandoval checks it well.
Sandoval takes one to the side of the head.
Sandoval has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Sandoval throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Let's hope that Sandoval has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Scott is looking to stand up but Sandoval isn't so interested in that idea.

Sandoval is trying to control the action in half guard but Scott is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Sandoval wants to take a breather but Scott is having none of it.
Scott wants to control but Sandoval is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Scott is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Sandoval's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Sandoval's back!

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jason Lee Scott will probably get the nod.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Scott enables Sandoval to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Scott manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Scott lands with an uppercut that bounces Sandoval off the cage and back into range.

Sandoval shoots for a double leg takedown but Scott sprawls well. He's pushed Sandoval's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Sandoval shoots in and drives through. Scott sprawls well.

Sandoval has his feet on Scott's thighs here. He's pushed Scott off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Scott screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
