PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Luis Torres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mario Huber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Huber is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Enter Sandman. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Luis Torres!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mario Huber!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Albert Achterberg and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Torres throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Huber fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Torres to the ground. Huber is now in Torres's guard.
Huber postures up in Torres's guard and throws a big left but Torres blocks it.
Huber throwing strikes from guard but Torres blocks nicely.
Huber throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Torres works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Huber distracts Torres with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Huber lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Huber thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Torres is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Huber in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Huber postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Huber is looking to work some ground and pound but Torres has wrist control.
Huber lands a couple of digs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Huber throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Huber trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Huber accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Torres wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Huber is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Torres is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Torres has escaped and now he's on top!


Huber isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Torres stacks Huber on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Torres!
Huber is looking for a sweep.
Huber manages to work his way to half guard, despite Torres's best efforts.

Torres prevents Huber from improving his position.
Torres is taking a breather. Huber says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Torres looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
It looks like Torres is going to stand back up.

Huber makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Huber.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Huber working for submissions but it's allowed Torres to get to half guard.
Torres looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Huber actively working from the bottom here.

Huber is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Torres pulls his head out easily.
Torres controlling the action here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Huber gets full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mario Huber dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Torres fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Huber manages to avoid it.
Torres tried to score with a low kick but Huber checks it.

Torres moves into range and clinches up with Huber.
Huber is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Torres gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Huber is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Torres pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Huber drops down looking for an ankle pick but Torres pulls his leg out and moves away.
Huber has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Luis Torres has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mario Huber.
Torres thumps Huber with a low kick.
Huber walks into a jab.
Huber tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Torres swivels and escapes.
Huber will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Huber changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Torres tries to avoid it but Huber manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Torres to the ground. Torres escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Horrible takedown attempt by Huber or perhaps it was just good defense by Torres, which made it look bad.
Huber shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Torres but Torres pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Torres throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Huber sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Huber misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Torres cracks the inside of Huber's front leg.
Torres wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Huber is breathing heavily.

Torres instigates a clinch.
A right hook to the body lands for Torres.
Torres makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Torres escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A slapping leg kick lands for Torres.
Torres lands a brutal uppercut that launches Huber off his feet! Huber tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Luis Torres!
During a confident post fight interview, Luis Torres thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
