Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Pain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andy Askren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andy Askren is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Andrew Pain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Andy Askren!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Daniel Franklin and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pain defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Askren.
Pain changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Askren fails with a takedown attempt.
Askren shoots for a double leg takedown but Pain sprawls well. He's pushed Askren's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Andrew Pain has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andy Askren.
Askren fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
A quick step to the side and Pain tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Askren clinches up with Pain and pushes him back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pain has Askren pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Askren manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Askren.
Pain tries to circle away but Askren has him pinned against the cage.

Askren gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Pain is pressing down on Askren's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Askren has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Pain is proving hard to escape from.
Askren wants to control from the top but Pain keeps moving.
Pain tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Askren has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Pain is proving hard to escape from.
Askren missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Askren looking to sit in guard and control but Pain gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Pain throws a big elbow that misses.
Pain stands up over Askren, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Pain's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Pain engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Askren really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pain. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Askren avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Pain wants to control from the top but Askren keeps moving.
Pain throws a big elbow that misses.
Askren keeping moving, preventing Pain from controlling successfully.
Pain scoring with some ground and pound.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pain scoring with punches to the head and body.
Pain wants to control from the top but Askren keeps moving.
Pain trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Askren is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pain is controlling him.
Askren is trying to keep Pain in close.
Pain sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Pain trying to control the position from guard on top but Askren is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Askren is trying to control the position but Pain postures up.
Askren has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Pain has passed into side control.
Pain wants to lay and pray for a moment but Askren keeps working.
Pain grinds an elbow into Askren's temple.
Pain landing a few strikes.


It looks like Andy Askren has been cut.
Askren is trying to get back to half guard.
Pain has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Askren takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Pain cracks Askren with an elbow. That is naaassty.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andrew Pain dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Andy Askren's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Askren pushes Pain up against the cage in a clinch.
Askren stops a takedown attempt from Pain.
Askren is trying to drag Pain to the mat but Pain just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Askren's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Askren misses with a head kick.
Askren misses with a body shot.
Pain attempts a counter takedown but Askren avoids it well and moves away.
Pain stuffs the takedown.
Pain appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Pain counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Askren!

Pain looks up at the clock and then as Askren takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Pain smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Pain is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Askren will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Askren can do anything to dispel that myth.

Andy Askren's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Andy Askren's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Andrew Pain!
