Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jay Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mario Pala (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jay Silva could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Mario Pala's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jay Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mario Pala!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Michael Johnstone and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pala moves into the clinch.
With the fighters up against the cage, Pala throws an elbow but misses.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Silva.
Silva fails to pull guard.

Pala wants the takedown. Silva is fighting it off but Pala persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Silva's guard against the cage.
Pala controlling from the top position.
Silva looking for a sweep. Not yet Silva, not yet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pala postures up.
Pala wants to stand but Silva has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Pala prevents Silva from getting back to his feet.

Silva seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Pala wants to control from the top but Silva keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Pala feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Silva looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Pala doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Silva counters with a right hand to the body.
Silva moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Pala.
Pala works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Silva is trying to get back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Silva takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Pala decides to stand back up. Pala steps back and let's Silva get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mario Pala dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Silva will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pala paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Pala has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Pala displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Silva.

Silva tries to score a power double leg takedown but Pala sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Silva somewhat.

Silva stuffs the takedown.
Pala changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Silva tries to avoid it but Pala manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Silva to the ground. Silva escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Pala closes the distance and pushes Silva back into the cage.

Pala escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Silva tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Pala takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Silva has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Pala is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Silva is defending well.

Pala jumps into guard, dragging Silva to the mat.

Pala is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Let's hope that Pala has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pala wanted to stand there but Silva had control of the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Silva tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Pala fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Silva to the ground. Pala is now in Silva's guard.

Silva manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Silva wants to take the fight to the mat but Pala manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Pala is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
