PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Josh Coshak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Duncan Selmy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Coshak kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Razormind Remix. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Josh Coshak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Duncan Selmy!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Reed Andrews and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Coshak moves into range and clinches up with Selmy.
Selmy is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Coshak to keep the fight standing.

Coshak drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Selmy manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Coshak has Selmy in his guard.

Coshak is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Coshak holds on and takes a little breather.

Selmy is looking to take a break and control but Coshak is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

and Coshak counters with a single leg into guard. Selmy didn't expect that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Coshak not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Selmy lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

A close round but Duncan Selmy will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Coshak gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Selmy throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Selmy lands a lovely overhand right.
Selmy has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

and Coshak counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Selmy!
Selmy is trying to control Coshak's posture but Coshak avoids it.
Coshak is trying to ground and pound but Selmy uses the momentary lack of control by Coshak to regain half guard.
Selmy is looking to control Coshak's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Selmy avoid being mounted?
Selmy makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Selmy.
Coshak postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Coshak escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Selmy throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Coshak.

Selmy is breathing heavily.
Selmy works the jab nicely.
Selmy smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Duncan Selmy is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Coshak scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

That was a close second round but I would say that Josh Coshak will probably get the nod.

Coshak's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Selmy has managed to clinch.
Selmy is pressed up against the cage. Coshak has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Selmy down to the mat. Selmy avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Selmy tries to bum rush Coshak with a series of wild strikes but Coshak uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Coshak is trying hard to land a takedown here. Selmy sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Selmy jumps guard but Coshak turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Josh Coshak has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Duncan Selmy.
Selmy jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Coshak walks away with a smile on his face. Selmy gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Coshak tightens his grip and picks Selmy up, before dumping him to the ground. Selmy manages to land in guard.

Selmy is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Selmy jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Coshak walks away with a smile on his face. Selmy gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Selmy enables Coshak to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Selmy manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Coshak is in close to Selmy's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Selmy looking for a sweep. Not yet Selmy, not yet.
Coshak chips away with some ground and pound.
Coshak content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Coshak gets to his feet - Selmy follows without any prompting.

Coshak closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Selmy did well to prevent Coshak getting side control.
Coshak seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Josh Coshak.
I think Coshak has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
