Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Der Elk! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Deshawn Jackson! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Daniel Franklin and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Elk gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. A nice right hand lands inside from Elk. Elk breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Elk shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jackson but Jackson pushes him off and we're back to square one. Jackson misses the shot to the body. Elk appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Elk. I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Elk shoots in looking for a takedown. Jackson tries to sprawl out of it but Elk keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jackson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Jackson tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Elk defends well and Jackson ends up having to push Elk into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. A quick step to the side and Elk tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Elk shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jackson pinned against the cage. Jackson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Elk shoots in but Jackson avoids the takedown attempt easily. Elk has closed the distance and engaged Jackson in a clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jackson tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Elk avoids it. Elk tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Elk gets control of Jackson's arms and successfully pulls guard. Elk will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Jackson won't allow Elk to sweep him here. Elk pulls Jackson in to control the position. Jackson tries to free his leg and advance position but Elk is retaining full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jackson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jackson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Elk swivels though and keeps the full guard. Jackson is looking to stand up but Elk won't let him. Jackson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Elk has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jackson has managed to get both his arms back between Elk's legs - danger averted.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Jackson shoots in looking for a takedown. Elk tries to sprawl out of it but Jackson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Elk manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Jackson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Elk has closed the distance and engaged Jackson in a clinch.

Elk wants to clinch and Jackson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Elk shoots in but Jackson avoids the takedown attempt easily. Jackson looks for a takedown but Elk sprawls well. Elk bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Jackson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Elk circles away. Elk closes the distance and pushes Jackson back into the cage. Elk breaks the clinch.

Elk has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jackson down to the mat. Jackson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Jackson moves in looking to clinch but Elk pushes him off. Jackson clinches with his opponent.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Der Elk. Well Elk has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
