PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Maciej Wilk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kazmir Velico (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velico misses with a jab, cross combination.
A punch combination from Velico misses.
Wilk shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Velico as he jumps to the side.
Velico swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Wilk gets off balance looking for a body kick
enabling Velico to counter with a crisp jab.
Wilk bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
A right hook to the body lands for Velico.
Velico has Wilk pressed against the cage, preventing Wilk from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Velico slows down the pace here.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Wilk tries to pull guard but Velico forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Wilk is trying to break the clinch but Velico has him pressed against the cage.
Wilk drops down looking for an ankle pick but Velico pulls his leg out and moves away.

Velico throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

and Velico counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Velico.

Velico lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Wilk wants to stall.
Velico lands a shoulder strike.
Wilk misses with the head strike.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Velico creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Velico is pressed up against the cage. Wilk has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Velico down to the mat. Velico avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Wilk really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Wilk moves into the clinch successfully.
A nice left hand lands by Velico.
Velico is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Wilk is trying to pull guard but Velico turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Nice body punch from Velico - that landed with a thud.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Velico.
Wilk tries to break the clinch but Velico is controlling the position.
Wilk goes for a takedown attempt but Velico pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Velico closes the distance and pushes Wilk back into the cage.
Wilk tries to stall but Velico uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Velico lands a right hand that snaps the head of Wilk backwards.
Velico lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Velico has Wilk pressed against the cage.

Velico stalling the fight.
Velico scores with a shoulder strike.
Velico lands a hook to the side of the head.
Wilk jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Velico walks away with a smile on his face. Wilk gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Velico lands a big right hand that sends Wilk crashing to the mat! Velico stays standing though and waves Wilk back to his feet!

Wilk is rocked!

Velico instigates a clinch.
Oh Wilk is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Velico blocks a body shot from Wilk.
Velico lands a body punch in the clinch.
Velico lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Wilk takes a shot to the head.
Wilk tries to pull guard but Velico forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Velico stalls.

Kazmir Velico dominated that round.

Velico throws a right hand that Wilk ducks under and follows up with a left that Wilk also avoids with ease.
Velico misses with an uppercut. Wilk saw that one coming.
Wilk seems to have got his legs back now.

and Velico counters with a straight right hand.

Velico lands a shoulder strike.

Wilk decides to pull guard.

Wilk is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Velico is controlling him.

Wilk uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Wilk shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Velico sprawls well. Velico wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Wilk gets slowly back to his feet.

Velico lands a left and a right that send Wilk crashing to the mat, dazed. Velico thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Wilk get stunned by a cross and takes another one on the button. Wilk stumbles backwards and tries to bounce back off the cage but Velico runs in and jumps on him with a leaping lead hook that puts him out! Wow, that was highlight reel stuff! Awesome finish!
