Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Andrew West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Georges Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). West comes into the arena with Roy Jones - Can't be touched blaring out of the sound system. Andrew West had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Andrew West! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Georges Hughes! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Santiago Holmes and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hughes shoots in looking for a takedown but West manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Hughes's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Hughes shoots in for a double leg but West sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Hughes throws a half hearted mid kick. Jab by West. Ouch! a nice leg kick from West, right into the meat.
Hughes darts in and clinches West up against the cage. West dodges an elbow strike from Hughes.
West breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
West lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Hughes throws the kick towards the body but West avoids it. West throws a hook to the side of Hughes's head but Hughes sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. West throws a right and a left that both miss. West jabs Hughes right on the nose. Hughes blinks but takes it well. West throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
West throws the kick towards the body but Hughes avoids it. Hughes throws a low kick but West avoids it. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hughes walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Hughes swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A counter left hand to the body from West misses its target. West's corner calls for a 1-2. West obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Hughes misses with a wild body shot. An attempted straight right counter from West misses the target.
That's one minute gone in the round. Some bone on bone action there as West checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Hughes slips a jab and a cross from West.
Hughes throws a hook but West avoids it easily. West was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Hughes on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
It looks like West has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him. Andrew West is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Hughes misses with a leg kick. West throws a leg kick but Hughes sees it coming and checks it nicely. West moves out of range as Hughes strikes. Hughes takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Hughes closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Hughes throws a knee to the head but misses.
Hughes blocks an elbow strike from West.
West escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and West counters with a one-two to the body. Hughes looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Hughes checks the leg kick. West slips under a jab. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Nice cross by West. West takes a swing at Hughes's ribcage but misses. Hughes drops down looking to force a counter takedown but West defends it well. Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hughes dives in and scores a takedown into West's guard. Hughes looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Hughes postures up.
West wants to sweep but no luck. Hughes tries to free his leg and advance position but West is retaining full guard. Hughes stopping the sweep attempt from West. Hughes drops back looking for a leg! West is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and West manages to kick Hughes off! Hughes jumps back into West's guard. West looking to control.
Hughes pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. West is keeping the position for now. West on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if West tries to get out of the position. West has his hands on Hughes's head, controlling the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hughes looking to pass the guard. Hughes keeps trying to improve his position. Hughes passes easily into side control. Nice work. West wants to control but Hughes postures up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. West is looking for a sweep. Hughes passes to full mount! That's big trouble for West! Hughes is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. West can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
West is looking to get to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. West is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. West defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Hughes. Hughes swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and West is now in Hughes's guard. A big mistake from Hughes there, giving up the dominant position! West cracks Hughes with a solid left hand. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Hughes has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. West doesn't defend quickly enough and Hughes has managed to lock this one up! Can West escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Hughes on a fantastic submission victory.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Georges Hughes! During a confident post fight interview, Georges Hughes thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
