Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Danny Lynch! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jean Vilain! The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Saam Ante and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lynch gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Lynch is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Vilain is controlling him. Vilain is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Lynch is trying to control the position from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lynch manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. Lynch misses with a punch on the inside.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vilain has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Lynch is trying to keep an underhook but Vilain manages to get the takedown into half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Vilain connects with a nice short shot to Lynch's temple. Lynch tries to kick Vilain off but Vilain keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Vilain with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Lynch tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Lynch is trying to stand.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Vilain shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Vilain showed some decent athleticism there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vilain prevents Lynch from standing back up.
Lynch is trying to get back to full guard. Vilain is taking a breather. Lynch says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Vilain seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lynch does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Lynch controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Vilain stops Lynch from getting back to his feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Jean Vilain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Vilain misses with a two punch combination.
Vilain tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Lynch manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Vilain lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Lynch has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Lynch and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Lynch is looking to counter the offense by Vilain and move into the clinch. Lynch closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lynch lands in his opponent's guard. Vilain is trying to control the position but Lynch postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lynch stays in close to Vilain's body and controls the position. Lynch gets to his feet. Vilain looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Vilain shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Lynch is trying to defend but Vilain finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Vilain prevents Lynch from improving his position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Lynch looking for submissions off his back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lynch tries to get to full guard but Vilain has control of the leg. Lynch wants to get back to his feet.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Lynch is not content to let Vilain control the position. Lynch tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops. Lynch could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Lynch is trying to get back to his feet but Vilain has full control of the position and if anything, Lynch has just worked his way into a worse spot. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Vilain takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Lynch moves into full guard.
Lynch looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Vilain puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Lynch is trying to stand up here but Vilain is controlling him well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Vilain is trying to control. Lynch wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Vilain stalling.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Vilain has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Lynch decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Jean Vilain is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
