PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Graham Doyle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mase Morrison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Graham Doyle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mase Morrison!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Morrison is defended easily by Doyle.
A head kick by Morrison misses

and Doyle counters with a single leg into guard. Morrison didn't expect that.
Morrison has control of Doyle's left arm, preventing Doyle from doing any damage.
Doyle missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Doyle trying to control the position from guard on top but Morrison is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Doyle throws a big elbow that misses.
Doyle really is a fat lump.
Morrison pulls Doyle in close to prevent any damage.

Morrison looking for a sweep. Not yet Morrison, not yet.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Doyle trying to control but Morrison is working from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Morrison clinches up against the cage.

Morrison gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Morrison not doing much here.
Let's hope that Morrison has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Morrison prevents Doyle from standing back up.
Doyle is looking to improve his position.
Doyle wants to get back to his feet.

Morrison stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Morrison drives through and clinches with Doyle against the cage.

Morrison has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Doyle is trying to keep an underhook but Morrison manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Doyle missing with punches from the bottom.
Doyle tries to kick Morrison off but Morrison keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Morrison is trying to control. Doyle wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Doyle wants to improve his position but Morrison is controlling well.

Morrison is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Morrison wants to control from the top but Doyle keeps moving.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Morrison passes Doyle's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Morrison seems to be looking for submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mase Morrison dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Doyle changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Morrison tries to avoid it but Doyle manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Morrison to the ground. Morrison escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Doyle is looking to clinch.
Morrison fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Doyle avoids it really well and circles away.
Doyle tries to counter by clinching up but Morrison breaks away and moves out of range.

Morrison instigates a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Morrison jumps into guard, dragging Doyle to the mat.
Doyle preventing the sweep.
Doyle trying to control the position from guard on top but Morrison is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Doyle connects with a couple of short punches.
Morrison has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Doyle has gone for a leg lock! Morrison slips out almost immediately though and dives into Doyle's guard.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Morrison. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Morrison working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Doyle's head.

Morrison is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Morrison stands up from Doyle's guard - Morrison perhaps looking for a knockout.

Morrison closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Morrison is breathing heavily.

Morrison wants to take a breather but Doyle is having none of it.
Doyle looks like he's trying to stand up.
Morrison trying to mount his opponent but Doyle defends it.
Doyle wants to get back to his feet.

Morrison stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Doyle to get to his feet.

Morrison rushes Doyle and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Morrison decides to pull guard.
Morrison controlling Doyle's posture.
Morrison's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Morrison looking to hit a scissor sweep but Doyle is one step ahead there.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Mase Morrison showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Doyle throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Morrison's waist but Morrison gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Doyle off to one side.
Doyle sets himself, and Morrison steps forward looking for the clinch! Doyle avoids it this time.
Morrison throws a head kick that misses

and Doyle holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Morrison slowing the pace effectively.
Morrison digs a right hand underneath Doyle's ribcage. Doyle let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Doyle wants to take the fight to the mat but Morrison manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Doyle jumps guard but Morrison turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Graham Doyle. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Morrison breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Doyle slaps away a takedown attempt from Morrison, before circling back to the center of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Morrison dives in for a single leg takedown but Doyle sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Doyle tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Morrison was well out of range. Poor timing from Doyle.
Morrison takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Nice straight punches there by Morrison. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Morrison.
Doyle tries to score a power double leg takedown but Morrison sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Doyle somewhat.

Doyle moves in looking to clinch but Morrison pushes him off.

It looks like Graham Doyle has been cut.

Morrison breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
No luck for Morrison with that takedown attempt.
Doyle blocks a head kick by Morrison.
Morrison misses with a head kick.

Morrison pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Morrison shoots in for a double leg but Doyle sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Doyle fails to land with a series of punches.
Horrible takedown attempt by Doyle or perhaps it was just good defense by Morrison, which made it look bad.
Morrison avoids the body shot from Doyle.
Doyle wants to clinch up but Morrison keeps it at a distance.
Morrison lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Graham Doyle is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Morrison is defended easily by Doyle.
Doyle changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Doyle tries to clinch up but Morrison circles away and keeps his distance.
Doyle chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Doyle shoots in looking for a takedown. Morrison tries to sprawl out of it but Doyle keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Morrison manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Morrison throws the kick towards the body but Doyle avoids it.

Morrison lands a nice knee to the body.
Doyle wants to stall.

Morrison escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Morrison fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Doyle avoids it really well and circles away.
Doyle half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Morrison shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Doyle defends it nicely.

Doyle closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Morrison's guard.
Graham Doyle has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mase Morrison is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Doyle drops back looking for a leg! Morrison is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Morrison manages to kick Doyle off! Doyle jumps back into Morrison's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mase Morrison comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Morrison has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
