The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez swinging wildly here.
Mendez tries to move into range but McHaggardy moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
McHaggardy throws a hook to the side of Mendez's head but Mendez sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

A quick step to the side and Mendez tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Jose Ignacio Mendez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McHaggardy throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mendez sees it coming and avoids it easily.

It seemed like McHaggardy was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Mendez was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

McHaggardy is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Mendez.
McHaggardy looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

McHaggardy might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

McHaggardy digs a good body shot into Mendez's ribs.
McHaggardy avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Mendez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
McHaggardy fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Mendez clobbers McHaggardy with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

McHaggardy cracks Mendez with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Mendez is rocked!
Mendez is aggressively charging in as McHaggardy backs up avoiding any damage. McHaggardy tosses out a jab and Mendez runs right into it face first! Mendez is out cold! McHaggardy dropped down on all fours and is barking in Mendez's face like a pit bull in celebration until the ref was finally able to pull him away!
