The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Paul fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Gilmore finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Gilmore bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Paul jabbing away but nothing is landing. Paul misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Gilmore throws a leg kick but Paul moved away. Gilmore throws a series of punches but Paul moves out of range. Paul gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Gilmore counters by moving into the clinch. Paul is breathing heavily. Gilmore has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Paul regains guard immediately. Gilmore with a flurry of punches that miss. Gilmore is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Gilmore cracks Paul with a solid left hand. Paul has momentary wrist control but Gilmore slips an elbow through the middle. Paul is looking for a triangle but Gilmore pushes his legs off easily.
Paul looking to sweep here. No luck so far. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rory Gilmore dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Paul doesn't succeed with the takedown and Gilmore holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Gilmore manages to pull guard.
Gilmore has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Gilmore lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Paul! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gilmore working for a submission but Paul is keeping him at bay. Paul taking shots to the head. Gilmore looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Paul is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Paul is in a horrible position here. Gilmore smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Paul takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Paul bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Rory Gilmore has got the better of the ground game so far. Gilmore is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Gilmore is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Gilmore looking to hit a scissor sweep but Paul is one step ahead there. Gilmore is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Gilmore sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Paul defending well though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gilmore uses his free foot to push down on Paul's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Paul. Paul manages to regain half guard. Good work. Paul looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Paul might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Gilmore trying to pass the guard but Paul defending well. Paul trying to hold on to Gilmore's head to control him but Gilmore postures up.

Gilmore is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Paul is forced to tap! Great finish!
