Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Erik Ruiz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Morton Scapular! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Scapular shoots in for a takedown but Ruiz shows good takedown defense. Ruiz avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Scapular takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Ruiz connects with a body shot that sends Scapular's belly button to the back. Ruiz bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Scapular's head. Scapular scores with a shot to the body.
Scapular throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Ruiz sees it coming and avoids it easily. Scapular throws a leg kick but Ruiz checks it. Scapular clinches. Ruiz misses with a punch on the inside.

Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Scapular looking to slow down the pace here. Ruiz misses with a hook from the clinch. Ruiz throws a punch but it's blocked by Scapular. Ruiz lands with a short head shot on the inside. A body shot lands from Ruiz.

Ruiz is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Scapular can do to turn this around? Scapular uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Ruiz. Scapular connects with a nice looking jab.

Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Ruiz. Ruiz connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Scapular catches Ruiz with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Scapular misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Ruiz counters with a nice uppercut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ruiz gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Scapular to score an easy takedown into full guard. Ruiz has Scapular pulled in close to control his posture.

Scapular trying to control the position from guard on top but Ruiz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ruiz has control of Scapular's left arm, preventing Scapular from doing any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Ruiz misses with a lunging right hand
and Scapular counters with a nice uppercut. Erik Ruiz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Scapular tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ruiz swats him away and circles back towards the center. Scapular ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ruiz moves away. It looked like Ruiz wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Ruiz throws a body shot but no joy. Scapular lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Ruiz walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Scapular misses with a takedown attempt letting Ruiz counter with a right hand. Scapular's corner calls for a 1-2. Scapular obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Scapular appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Ruiz tries to bum rush Scapular with a series of wild strikes but Scapular uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Ruiz takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Ruiz misses with a right hand and Scapular counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Ruiz just misses with a punch to the body.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Scapular lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Ruiz has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Ruiz and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ruiz misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Scapular.

and Scapular counters with a stiff right hand. Ruiz steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Scapular. Scapular missing with a left hand there. Ruiz was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Scapular misses with a low kick.
Scapular is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Ruiz's half guard. Ruiz keeping hold of Scapular's head, controlling as best he can. Ruiz tries to get to full guard but Scapular has control of the leg.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ruiz is controlling Scapular's trapped leg to prevent Scapular from advancing to side control. Ruiz is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Ruiz will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
