Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between James Howlett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johny Witson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Howlett comes to the cage accompanied by X-Men Theme Music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johny Witson!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Witson throws a head kick but Howlett moves out of range.
A counter left hand to the body from Howlett misses its target.
Howlett throws out a loose jab but Witson uses good head movement to avoid it.
Witson tries a head kick but it misses.
Howlett checks a leg kick.
An attempted straight right counter from Howlett misses the target.
Howlett looks to land a left hand but Witson moved out of range nicely.
Howlett jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Witson swings away with a body shot that misses
and Howlett counters with a straight right hand.
Witson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Howlett swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Howlett dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Howlett throws out a loose jab but Witson uses good head movement to avoid it.
Johny Witson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Howlett loads up on a big right hand but Witson slips the punch.
Witson was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Witson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Howlett manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A little feinted left hand from Howlett on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Witson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Howlett cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Howlett scores with a jab.
James Howlett is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Witson looks to throw a body kick
and Howlett connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Witson takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Witson turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Witson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Witson lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Howlett is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Witson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Witson's back!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Howlett is striking well from the back but Witson escapes and manages to control the positon and works his way to half guard. A much better position - the crisis is over for the time being.

Howlett is trying to control the position but Witson postures up.

Our sources have told us that Howlett has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight.

Howlett swings wildly with an uppercut but Witson uses good head movement to avoid it.

Witson is trying to push Howlett away but Howlett has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Witson throws a nice looking combination but Howlett bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
A low kick from Witson is predictable there
and Howlett counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That's time! Howlett's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Witson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Howlett is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Witson.

Witson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Howlett can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

James Howlett dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
