Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jackson Bashin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricky Sharpe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jackson Bashin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ricky Sharpe!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Sandra Marshall and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bashin scores with a leg kick.

Sharpe clinches up with Bashin and pushes him back against the cage.
Sharpe is working Bashin over against the cage.
Bashin with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Bashin throws a knee to the head but misses.
Sharpe is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Bashin has a couple of punches blocked by Sharpe.
Sharpe avoiding damage as Bashin throws knees to the body.

Sharpe pulls guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sharpe bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bashin's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sharpe controls from within his opponent's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sharpe pushes down on Bashin's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Sharpe is taking a breather. Bashin says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Bashin is trying to stand up here but Sharpe is controlling him well.
Sharpe content to control rather than advance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Sharpe is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Bashin sees it coming and defends easily.
Sharpe is controlling the pace.
Let's hope that Sharpe has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sharpe's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bashin thuds a left hand into Sharpe's body.

Sharpe moves into the clinch.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Sharpe.
Sharpe avoiding damage as Bashin throws knees to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sharpe struggles to land a body shot inside as Bashin controls his hands.
Bashin is pressed up against the cage. Sharpe has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Bashin down to the mat. Bashin avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Sharpe closes the distance and clinches.
Bashin can't find room to land a body shot as Sharpe controls the action.

Sharpe has clasped his hands together around Bashin's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bashin is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Sharpe tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sharpe has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bashin is trying to escape the position but Sharpe is controlling the position.
Sharpe moves into full mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ricky Sharpe dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Sharpe moves into the clinch.
Sharpe lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Bashin can't find room to land a body shot as Sharpe controls the action.

Bashin tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Bashin prevents a body shot from Sharpe.

Sharpe jumps guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sharpe manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Sharpe avoids a punch combination nicely.
Sharpe turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Bashin tries a head kick but it misses.
Sharpe takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Bashin throws a wild body kick that Sharpe sees coming a mile off.

Sharpe gets a clinch.
Bashin tries to throw a body punch but Sharpe avoids it by throwing Bashin back against the cage.
Sharpe throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Sharpe stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.

Sharpe breaks the clinch.

Sharpe throws a right and a left that both miss.

Sharpe gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Sharpe breaks the clinch.
Bashin pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Sharpe rushes Bashin and presses him up against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sharpe blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Sharpe breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bashin bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

Sharpe shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Bashin is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Sharpe dives into side control.

Sharpe is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Bashin will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bashin is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Sharpe asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Bashin is letting Sharpe control him for a moment.
Sharpe has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bashin is pushing Sharpe's head away, looking to escape. Sharpe manages to hold on to the position though.
Sharpe takes a little break here. Bashin wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Sharpe tries for a kimura but Bashin is defending well.
Sharpe controlling from side mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ricky Sharpe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Bashin takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Bashin looks to land a combination but Sharpe avoids it well.
Sharpe feints a jab promting Bashin to slip. Sharpe then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Bashin slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.


It looks like Jackson Bashin has been cut.
Left hook, right uppercut from Sharpe.
Sharpe throws a series of punches but Bashin moves out of range.
Bashin misses with a hook.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bashin lands a damaging elbow.
A head punch on the inside from Bashin fails to land.
A hook to the body from Sharpe.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bashin's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Bashin just misses with a elbow thrown towards Sharpe's brow.
Bashin misses with the head strike.
Bashin using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Sharpe has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Sharpe digs a right hand underneath Bashin's ribcage. Bashin let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Bashin throws a punch but it's blocked by Sharpe.

Sharpe escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Both fighters circling a little - Bashin finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Bashin gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Sharpe is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Sharpe is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Ricky Sharpe has got the better of the ground game so far.
Bashin is looking to stand up but Sharpe isn't so interested in that idea.
Sharpe not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Sharpe forces his way into half guard.
Sharpe seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Sharpe works his foot free and advances to mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Bashin trying desperately to get to his feet.
Sharpe controlling from mount.

Sharpe is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Bashin can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sharpe controlling the position easily from mount.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ricky Sharpe comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Sharpe has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
