Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sterling Morton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dwayne Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dwayne Peterson!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Peterson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Morton wriggles free and stands up.
Morton dives in for a single leg takedown but Peterson sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Peterson dives in and scores a takedown into Morton's guard.
Peterson keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Morton's head.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Morton tries to land a sweep but no joy.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Peterson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Peterson passes to full mount!
Morton keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Peterson tries to throw a body punch but Morton avoids it by throwing Peterson back against the cage.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
A short body shot lands from Morton as the two fighters clinch.

Morton darts in and clinches Peterson up against the cage.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Morton slows down the pace here.
Morton seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.
Peterson wants to get back to striking at distance but Morton won't allow it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Morton takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Peterson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Morton has him pressed against the cage.
Come on Morton - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Morton manages to pull guard.
Peterson wants to control from the top but Morton keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Morton keeping full guard, as Peterson tries to pass.
Peterson tries to stand but Morton is controlling from the bottom.
Peterson throwing strikes from guard but Morton blocks nicely.
Dwayne Peterson has got the better of the ground game so far.

Morton keeping moving, preventing Peterson from controlling successfully.
Peterson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Peterson is looking to stand up but Morton won't let him.
Peterson looking to sit in guard and control but Morton gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Peterson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Peterson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Morton gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Morton prevents Peterson from getting back to his feet.

Morton is looking to stand up but Peterson won't let him.

Peterson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Morton can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Morton could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Peterson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Morton defends well.
Morton is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Morton has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Peterson is proving hard to escape from.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Peterson blocks a head kick by Morton.
Peterson appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.

Peterson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Morton tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Peterson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Morton is staying active underneath Peterson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Morton might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Peterson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Morton does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Dwayne Peterson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Peterson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
