Merrill shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Plouman napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Plouman tries to improve position but can't.
Plouman regains half guard.
Merrill working over Plouman with some ground and pound. Plouman looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Merrill takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Merrill throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Plouman looking for submissions off his back.
Merrill has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Plouman defend it? Merrill steps over the head and cranks it - Plouman is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Merrill!
