Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Philip Dyson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
28 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Opie Winston! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dyson scores with a punch to the head. Winston walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Winston waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Dyson. Winston ducks right into an uppercut from Dyson. Winston pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Dyson takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Dyson checks a low kick from Winston. Dyson throws out a powerful jab. Winston throws a head kick that misses. Winston has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Dyson throws a sloppy head kick and Winston moves out of range easily. Dyson blocks a leg kick. Winston moves in looking to clinch but Dyson pushes him off. Dyson is looking to counter punch. Dyson buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
This has been an exciting period of action! Winston is looking to slow Dyson down with leg kicks. Winston tries to clinch but Dyson moves out of range. Winston takes a shot right to the bread basket. Winston misses with a looping left.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dyson scores with a leg kick.
Winston throws out a loose jab but Dyson uses good head movement to avoid it. Dyson fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Winston looks to land a left hand but Dyson moved out of range nicely. An attempted straight right counter from Dyson misses the target. Winston is looking to chop away at Dyson's legs. Dyson throws a body punch but Winston moves out of range. Dyson tests Winston's chin there with a solid looking shot. Dyson walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Winston checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Opie Winston seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dyson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Winston. Dyson is looking to counter punch. Dyson sends Winston crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Dyson is motioning to the referee to let Winston up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Winston is rocked! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. BAM! Dyson delivers a spinning backfist that drops Winston like a ragdoll! This is all oooooveeeer! He was out before he hit the ground!
