Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Raul Michael (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Happy Hippy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Happy Hippy is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Happy Hippy!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Chris Saunders and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Michael misses.
Michael swats away the attempt to clinch by Hippy.

Michael has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hippy is working away from the top position though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Hippy tries to score a power double leg takedown but Michael sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hippy somewhat.

Michael throws a big counter combination but Hippy scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Michael controls Hippy momentarily but Hippy frees himself.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Hippy throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Michael tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hippy is in Michael's guard.

Hippy gets to his feet - Michael follows without any prompting.

Michael manages to escape and get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Raul Michael will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Michael throws a nice looking combination but Hippy bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Hippy shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Michael as he jumps to the side.
It looked like Michael was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Happy Hippy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hippy shoots in for a takedown but Michael shows good takedown defense.
Hippy tries to close the distance and clinch up but Michael swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Hippy manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Michael on his heels. He'll look to pass Michael's guard now, I'm sure.

Michael has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hippy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Hippy has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Michael is proving hard to escape from.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hippy slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Hippy closes this distance looking for a takedown but Michael circles away.

Hippy tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Michael manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

As Hippy looks to move away, Michael throws a big counter combo bu Hippy just gets out of the way.

Hippy is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Michael avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Michael fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Hippy looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Michael changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Hippy shoots in and drives through. Michael sprawls well.
Michael is looking for a counter combo.

Danga de danga de dang - Michael scores with a four punch combination!

Hippy gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Michael counters with a three punch combo that has Hippy backing up. Hippy nods at Michael to acknowledge the strikes.

Michael clinches with his opponent.
Michael tries to break free but Hippy pushes him back against the cage.
Michael presses Hippy against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

Michael has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Hippy is trying to keep an underhook but Michael manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Michael not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Hippy regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Michael.
Michael postures up in Hippy's guard and throws a big left but Hippy blocks it.
Michael throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hippy works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hippy can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

And that's the end of the fight!
Raul Michael showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Michael has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
