The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Johanna Lukiainen and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Helgesson with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Helgesson lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Helgesson.
Yang wants to clinch up but Helgesson keeps it at a distance.
Helgesson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Yang to the mat! Yang manages to get full guard.
Yang can't keep his opponent in guard - Helgesson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Yang is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Helgesson thows a huge punch but Yang dodges it nicely.

It looks like Helgesson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Helgesson in particular looking to stall.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Helgesson is looking to stand up but Yang isn't so interested in that idea.
Helgesson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Yang can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Helgesson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Yang manages to get himself to full guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Vidar Helgesson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Yang takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Yang gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Helgesson to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Yang looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Helgesson has picked Yang up and slammed him! Yang can't keep hold of the triangle and Helgesson manages to pass to side control!

Yang wants to control but Helgesson postures up.

Helgesson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Yang is looking for a sweep.
Helgesson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The referee asks Helgesson politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Helgesson prefers to stall for the moment though.
