Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Anton Jackson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Damian Savas! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Jonathan Paton and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Savas fails with a takedown attempt. Savas wants to clinch up but Jackson keeps it at a distance. Jackson tries for a takedown but Savas circles away easily and Savas makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Jackson really felt that one! Jackson throws a combination that misses and Savas counters with a nice body kick.
Savas tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jackson paws at him with a jab and circles away. Savas fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Jackson is out of range. Savas has his takedown stuffed and Jackson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Jackson. Savas wants to sweep but no luck.
That's one minute gone in the round. Savas is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Savas wants to control but Jackson is keeping him busy. Jackson tries to kick Savas off but Savas keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Savas is controlling the pace.
Savas is looking to take a break and control but Jackson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Jackson is trying to stand up here but Savas is controlling him well. Savas with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Savas stops Jackson from getting back to his feet.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Jackson scores with a takedown into Savas's guard. Jackson gets to his feet. Savas looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Savas avoids the body shot from Jackson.
Savas throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Jackson connects with a body shot. Savas fails to land the takedown. Anton Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Damian Savas. Savas with a poor takedown and Jackson counters with a single leg into guard. Savas didn't expect that. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Savas looks gassed! Jackson stands up from Savas's guard - Jackson perhaps looking for a knockout.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Savas misses with a takedown attempt and Jackson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Savas's guard now. Jackson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Jackson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Savas tries to roll over but Jackson keeps him under control. Jackson in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Savas tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Jackson!
