Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Stan Rivers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Medeiros (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Rivers might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Cyco Vision. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
26 - 14 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, Stan Rivers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
20 - 7 - 1, fighting out of London, Jose Medeiros! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Jorge Garcia and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Medeiros closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Rivers manages to escape and get back to his feet! Rivers connects with a single shot there. Rivers jabbing away but nothing is landing. Stan Rivers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rivers just misses with a punch to the body.
And Medeiros tries to counter it with a takedown but Rivers pushes his down on his head and steps out. Medeiros cracks a nice hook into Rivers's ribs. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Medeiros staying out of range there. Rivers throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Medeiros. Medeiros bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Medeiros changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Rivers misses with a head kick.

We've been told by Rivers's head coaches at Montreal Fighter's Gym (5* Sparring) that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Medeiros punishes Rivers's body with a nice straight punch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rivers keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Medeiros. Medeiros takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Rivers really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Rivers fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Rivers lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Medeiros circles away quickly and effectively. Medeiros is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Rivers takes a swing at Medeiros's ribcage but misses. Stan Rivers is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Rivers misses with the combination.

Rivers will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Medeiros forces his way into half guard. Medeiros is looking to advance position but Rivers won't allow it. Rivers avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Medeiros. That's four minutes gone in the round. Medeiros scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Rivers to see if he's OK. Rivers is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Rivers dodges the ground and pound from Medeiros. Medeiros has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Rivers! Medeiros throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Rivers because Medeiros loaded up on that one. Medeiros throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Medeiros has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rivers is working away from the top position though.

Medeiros is desperately trying to improve his position but Rivers has a good base and remains in mount. Medeiros is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Rivers is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Medeiros can do to turn this around? Medeiros regains half guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Rivers fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Rivers is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Medeiros takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Rivers slips out almost immediately though and dives into Medeiros's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Medeiros steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Rivers. Rivers throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Rivers jabbing away but nothing is landing. Rivers scores with a three punch combo!
Rivers clobbers Medeiros with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Rivers misses with the combination.
Jose Medeiros has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Both fighters are breathing heavily. Medeiros moves away from the strike by Rivers. Medeiros tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rivers swivels and escapes. Good standup being displayed there by Rivers as he connects with a hook. Rivers connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Rivers!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sloppy strikes from Rivers. Those never looked like landing.

Rivers blocking the ground and pound attempt from Medeiros. Medeiros is looking to take a break and control but Rivers is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Medeiros stalling away here and it's allowed Rivers to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Medeiros working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Medeiros trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Rivers avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Medeiros trying to control the position from guard on top but Rivers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Medeiros accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
And that's the end of the fight! Stan Rivers showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rivers, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
