Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, King Perry! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, De Janeiro! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Mauricio Rocha and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Perry fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Janeiro doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Perry lands an overhand right. Janeiro closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Janeiro has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Perry misses with an attempted mid kick.
Janeiro tries to counter by closing the distance. Perry lands a right hook to the body.
Perry looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Janeiro! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Perry working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Perry with the ground and pound but Janeiro regains half guard under the barage of strikes. Perry thows a huge punch but Janeiro dodges it nicely.
Perry is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Janeiro has managed to free his arm - good work. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Perry thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Janeiro's head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Perry misses with a head shot. Janeiro uses the momentum to regain guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Janeiro is on top in guard.
Janeiro drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Janeiro jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Janeiro drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Janeiro as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Perry screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Janeiro! Nice submission victory there!
