Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bob Carver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Vondon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bob Carver has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bob Carver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Richard Vondon!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vondon clinches.

Vondon pulls guard successfully.
Vondon throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Vondon has eaten all the pies!
Vondon wants to sweep but no luck.
Carver not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Vondon has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Carver is looking to work some ground and pound but Vondon has wrist control.

Vondon had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Carver defends it easily.
Vondon wants to sweep but no luck.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vondon not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Vondon looking to hit a scissor sweep but Carver is one step ahead there.

Vondon tries to strike from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Vondon shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Carver as he jumps to the side.
Vondon has a takedown stuffed.
Carver really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Vondon rushes Carver and presses him up against the cage.
Vondon lands a nice shot to the body.

Vondon successfully pulls guard.
Carver controls from within his opponent's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Carver throws a big right hand that misses.

Vondon escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Carver gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Carver trying to control the position from guard on top but Vondon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Carver controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Vondon is pulling down on Carver's head. It's preventing any offense from Carver, at least for the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Carver shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Vondon's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Carver stays in close to Vondon's body and controls the position.

Carver postures up in Vondon's guard and throws a big left but Vondon blocks it.
Carver postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Vondon controls Carver momentarily but Carver frees himself.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Carver controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Vondon managing to control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Vondon enables Carver to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Vondon manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Vondon pushes Carver off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Richard Vondon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carver fails with the takedown.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
No luck for Carver with that takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Richard Vondon dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Vondon connects with an inside leg kick.
Vondon shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Carver pinned against the cage. Carver gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Carver seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Carver shoots in and drives through. Vondon sprawls well.
Vondon fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Carver manages to avoid it.
Vondon has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Carver shoots in looking for a takedown. Vondon tries to sprawl out of it but Carver keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Vondon manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Vondon moves into range and clinches up with Carver.
Carver has Vondon pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Vondon manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bob Carver. That's going to take a lot out of him.

A bit of stalling here from Vondon.
Carver wants to get back to striking at distance but Vondon won't allow it.

Vondon is adopting a defensive guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Carver accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Vondon has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Carver can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Carver's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Carver throws a strike but Vondon rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Carver wants to stand up but Vondon is controlling him.
Vondon slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Vondon gets to his feet - Carver follows without any prompting.
Bob Carver is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Vondon takes the fight into the clinch.
Carver is trying to drag Vondon to the mat but Vondon just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Vondon manages to break the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Carver throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Vondon's waist but Vondon gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Carver off to one side.
Despite the aggression on Vondon's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Vondon lands a really nice looking cross but Carver seems unphased.
Vondon is trying hard to land a takedown here. Carver sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Vondon stuffs the takedown attempt from Carver. Carver gets slowly back to his feet.
As Carver backs off Vondon throws a huge counter combo but Carver manages to avoid it all.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Vondon is defended easily by Carver.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
A head kick misses from Vondon.
Carver seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Carver will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Vondon now looks to counter with a shot at the body.

Vondon instigates a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Richard Vondon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Carver misses with a takedown attempt - Vondon sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Vondon drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Carver defends it well.
Vondon tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Carver defends well and Vondon ends up having to push Carver into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Vondon shoots in looking for a takedown. Carver tries to sprawl out of it but Vondon keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Carver manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Vondon is pressed up against the cage. Carver has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Vondon down to the mat. Vondon avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Vondon misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Vondon just misses with a punch to the body.
Vondon shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Carver as he jumps to the side.
Bob Carver has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Richard Vondon.
Vondon swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Carver counters with a left and a right that stings Vondon.
Vondon fails with a takedown attempt.
Vondon takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Vondon shoots in but Carver avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Carver tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Vondon swivels and escapes.
Carver shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Vondon but Vondon pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Vondon appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Carver will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Vondon leaves Carver with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Carver slips a jab and a cross from Vondon.

Vondon gets tackled into the cage by Carver. Carver maintains the clinch.
Carver tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Vondon has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Carver after a bit of a struggle.
Vondon drops down looking for an ankle pick but Carver pulls his leg out and moves away.
Carver shoots in for a takedown but Vondon shows good takedown defense.
Vondon shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Carver as he avoids it easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Carver darts in looking for a takedown but Vondon gets double underhooks and turns Carver into the cage.

Carver dives in and scores a takedown into Vondon's guard.

Vondon uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Vondon closes the distance and pushes Carver back into the cage.
Vondon is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Vondon jumps into guard, dragging Carver to the mat.
Vondon is pulling down on Carver's head to control his posture.
Carver with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Vondon wriggles free and stands up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Vondon throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Carver's waist but Carver gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Vondon off to one side.
Carver fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Carver throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Vondon was covering up waiting for the punch and Carver finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Vondon pulls Carver in close to prevent any damage.
Carver will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Richard Vondon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Vondon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
