Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mick Shaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Bone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shaw's entrance music is Silver Bullet - Bring Forth The Guillotine. A fine choice. Bone is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: You'll Never Walk Alone. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mick Shaw! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Bone! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Chris Downing and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shaw goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Shaw takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Bone fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Bone misses the jab. Bone rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Shaw counters with a two punch combo. Shaw takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Bone has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Bone lunges at Shaw with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Shaw's hand. Shaw takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Bone lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Shaw circles away quickly and effectively. Shaw displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Bone throws out the jab. Bone looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Shaw throws a looping overhand right but Bone ducks down to avoid it. Nice takedown defense from Shaw. No joy for Bone on that attempt. Shaw seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bone looks to land a combination but Shaw avoids it well. As Bone looks to move away, Shaw throws a big counter combo bu Bone just gets out of the way. Bone rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Shaw moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Shaw is looking to counter punch. Bone throws an overhand right that lands on Shaw's shoulder, as Shaw tries to avoid the shot. Bone misses with a series of wild punches.
Shaw is looking for a counter combo. Bone avoids the head kick by Shaw.
Bone gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Shaw makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Mick Shaw has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Bone. Bone clinches with his opponent.
Shaw blocks an uppercut.
Shaw escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Bone throws a predictable looking body shot
and Shaw counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Bone just misses with a punch to the body.
Shaw throws a body shot but no joy. Joe Bone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shaw on the wrong end of a nice jab. Shaw leaves Bone with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. This has been an exciting period of action! Bone lands with a cross. Shaw gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Bone with a jab. Bone shoots in but doesn't get the takedown enabling Shaw to counter with a crisp jab. Bone throws a hook to the side of Shaw's head but Shaw sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Shaw appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick. Bone with a poor takedown and Shaw counters with a head kick. Bone misses with the combination.
Shaw is looking for a counter combo. Bone defending well as Shaw loads up on a big left hand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bone misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
It looked like Shaw wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. A jab from Bone does it's job there. Bone goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Mick Shaw is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Bone tests Shaw's chin there with a solid looking shot. Bone listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Shaw is rocked! Bone fakes the body blow, causing Shaw to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Shaw goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Joe Bone! A relieved looking Joe Bone thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
