Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tommy Taylor! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Fuyuki Yamamoto! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Hirohito Nitta and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Taylor fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Yamamoto moves into range and clinches up with Taylor. Yamamoto lands a body punch. Yamamoto gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Taylor regains guard.
Yamamoto wanted to stand there but Taylor had control of the position. Taylor looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Yamamoto passes into side control.
Yamamoto controls the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Yamamoto is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Taylor is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Taylor is looking for a sweep.
That's one minute gone in the round. Yamamoto stands up and beckons Taylor to his feet. Taylor shoots in for a takedown but Yamamoto shows good takedown defense. Tommy Taylor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Yamamoto instigates a clinch. Yamamoto manages to pull guard.
Yamamoto looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Yamamoto keeping moving, preventing Taylor from controlling successfully. Taylor got a little sloppy there for a moment and Yamamoto has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Taylor has managed to get both his arms back between Yamamoto's legs - danger averted. Yamamoto tries to strike from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Yamamoto wants to stand up but Taylor is controlling him. Taylor pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Yamamoto is keeping the position for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Yamamoto keeping moving, preventing Taylor from controlling successfully. Taylor avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Yamamoto tries to land a sweep but no joy. Taylor trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Taylor definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Taylor trying to control the position from guard on top but Yamamoto is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Yamamoto wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Yamamoto keeping moving, preventing Taylor from controlling successfully. Yamamoto looking for a sweep. Not yet Yamamoto, not yet. Taylor stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Yamamoto swivels though and keeps the full guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Taylor drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Yamamoto dives on top into guard.
Taylor is breathing heavily. Yamamoto is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Yamamoto controlling from the top position. Taylor keeping full guard, as Yamamoto tries to pass.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Yamamoto wants to get up but he can't break Taylor's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Taylor looking to hit a scissor sweep but Yamamoto is one step ahead there. Yamamoto looking to pass the guard. Taylor looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Yamamoto looking to pass the guard. Taylor looking for a sweep. Not yet Taylor, not yet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Fuyuki Yamamoto dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Taylor fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Yamamoto closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Taylor wants to control but Yamamoto postures up. Yamamoto cracks Taylor with an elbow. That is naaassty. Yamamoto tries to move to mount but Taylor blocks the move with his legs. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Taylor is being controlled here. Yamamoto lands a decent elbow from side control. Yamamoto is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Taylor is trying to escape and Yamamoto transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Taylor is forced to tap! Nice work there by Yamamoto! Very nice indeed!
