Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Garrett Trujillo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Wilfred Lennon! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, David Schapiro and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Trujillo takes the fight into the clinch. Lennon pulls guard. Trujillo is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Trujillo stands up and waves to Lennon to follow him. Lennon darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Trujillo gets back to full guard.
Lennon drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lennon jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Trujillo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lennon manages to get himself to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Lennon working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Trujillo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Trujillo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Trujillo controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Trujillo with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Trujillo gets to his feet. Lennon looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Trujillo moves into the clinch. Lennon looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Trujillo has Lennon pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Trujillo pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Lennon tumbling to the mat - Trujillo dives into Lennon's guard. Trujillo gets to his feet. Lennon looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Trujillo takes the fight into the clinch. Lennon manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Trujillo stands up from Lennon's guard - Trujillo perhaps looking for a knockout. Lennon looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Trujillo manages to escape and get back to his feet! This has been an exciting period of action! Wilfred Lennon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lennon moves into the clinch. Lennon is trying to stall.
Trujillo changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Lennon fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Lennon tries a head kick but it misses.
Lennon closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lennon trying to stall but Trujillo improves his position.
Trujillo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Lennon moves into the clinch successfully.
Trujillo lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Trujillo slips a nice elbow through Lennon's hands, connecting with Lennon's forehead. Lennon is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Trujillo scores with a couple of nice shots. Trujillo postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Lennon to stand up. Lennon tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Lennon misses with a body kick. Trujillo gets a clinch. Lennon manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Trujillo turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Trujillo controlling from side mount. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Trujillo lands some shots froms side control. Trujillo working away. Trujillo working the head and body with strikes. Trujillo stands up and beckons Lennon to his feet. Lennon swings and misses with a hook to the body.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Lennon has eaten all the pies! Trujillo pushes Lennon up against the cage in a clinch. Trujillo is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Lennon is defending well. Trujillo wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Garrett Trujillo. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lennon tries to land knees in the clinch but Trujillo avoids the damage to the body. Trujillo manages to break the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Garrett Trujillo dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Lennon gets a takedown into half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Trujillo manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Lennon trying to control the position from guard on top but Trujillo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Trujillo is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lennon is looking to control Trujillo's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lennon avoid being mounted? Trujillo content to control rather than advance. Trujillo working over Lennon with some ground and pound. Lennon looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lennon is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Trujillo drops an elbow to the side of Lennon's head. Trujillo decides to stand up. Lennon throws a right and a left that Trujillo avoids nicely. Lennon gets tackled into the cage by Trujillo. Trujillo maintains the clinch. Trujillo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Trujillo gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Lennon to score an easy takedown into full guard. Trujillo pushes Lennon off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Lennon tries to work over Trujillo's front leg with a kick but Trujillo checks it. Trujillo went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lennon has managed to clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Trujillo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Trujillo has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ. Lennon gets in close and instigates a clinch. Lennon ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Lennon no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Trujillo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Lennon is working an open guard so Trujillo takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Lennon swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Lennon is breathing heavily. Trujillo moves into the clinch. Trujillo wants a takedown but no success here.
Trujillo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Trujillo gets caught flat footed, as Lennon shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Trujillo pulls Lennon in close to prevent any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Trujillo keeping moving, preventing Lennon from controlling successfully. Lennon tries to free his leg and advance position but Trujillo is retaining full guard. Trujillo lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Trujillo makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Trujillo decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Lennon, up you get! Trujillo rushes Lennon and presses him up against the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Trujillo gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Lennon regains guard.
Lennon pushes Trujillo off and gets back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Trujillo rushes Lennon and presses him up against the cage. Trujillo manages to break the clinch.
Garrett Trujillo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Lennon closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Trujillo quickly recovers to half guard. Trujillo is pressing down on Lennon's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Lennon preventing the sweep. Lennon must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Trujillo bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lennon's guard. Trujillo working some strikes from top position. Trujillo makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Lennon manages to escape and get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Garrett Trujillo will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Lennon gets a double leg takedown into Trujillo's guard. Trujillo is pulling down on Lennon's head. It's preventing any offense from Lennon, at least for the moment. Trujillo looking for a sweep. Not yet Trujillo, not yet. Trujillo seems keen to control Lennon's posture. Trujillo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Trujillo is controlling Lennon's posture. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lennon wants to pass the guard but Trujillo is keeping the position. Lennon wants to stand and escape but instead Trujillo has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Trujillo gets control of Lennon's arms and successfully pulls guard. Trujillo will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Trujillo is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Lennon frees his head nicely. Oh but Trujillo has switched to an armbar! Lennon is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
