Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Christopher Elisterio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Alsop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Christopher Elisterio! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Fred Alsop! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Santiago Holmes and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Elisterio keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A slow jab from Elisterio misses its intended target. Alsop lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Elisterio throws a jab but it's blocked by Alsop. Elisterio misses with a double jab.

Alsop doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Elisterio closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Alsop prevents Elisterio from breaking the clinch. Alsop's coach down at Highland Brawl Academy was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Alsop's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Alsop lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Alsop pulls Elisterio into guard.
Elisterio wants to stand and escape but instead Alsop has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Alsop prevents Elisterio from getting back to his feet. Alsop controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Elisterio is looking to stand up but Alsop isn't so interested in that idea.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alsop loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Alsop trying to control but Elisterio is working from the bottom. Alsop is pushing down on Elisterio's leg trying to pass to half guard. Elisterio is fighting to maintain full guard but Alsop has managed to sneak the leg through. Alsop is keen to just control but Elisterio is a slippery customer. Alsop might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Elisterio haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Alsop is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Elisterio! Elisterio is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Alsop wants to finish this one by submission but Elisterio is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Alsop. Alsop controlling from mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. BOOM! Alsop connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Alsop looking to ground and pound but Elisterio is blocking nicely. Elisterio is trying to stand up. Alsop working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Alsop looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Alsop throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Alsop tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Alsop is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Elisterio can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Elisterio is trying to get back to his feet but can't. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Poor strikes thrown by Alsop there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Elisterio is squirming around, avoiding Alsop's attempts to control the action. Alsop is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Alsop extends the arm and Elisterio is forced to tap!
