Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Johnson Goodluck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Giovanni Marella (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marella has chosen "La Vittoria è Mia (Victory Is Mine)" by Jim Johnston as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Johnson Goodluck!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Giovanni Marella!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Michael Johnstone and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goodluck tries to close the distance and clinch but Marella swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Goodluck gets tackled into the cage by Marella. Marella maintains the clinch.
Goodluck drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Goodluck is trying to maintain a safe position but Marella gets an underhook and turns Goodluck into the cage.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Goodluck.
Goodluck has been working on his balance at Storm Mtn Fighting Studios, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Marella.
Marella should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Marella wants a takedown but no success here.
Goodluck pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Goodluck shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Marella defends it nicely.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Marella avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Goodluck tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Marella manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Johnson Goodluck seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Goodluck tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Marella swivels and escapes.

Marella frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Marella takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Marella has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Marella seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Goodluck kicks off Marella and gets to his feet.
Marella avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Goodluck works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Marella shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Marella was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Goodluck is trying to control Marella's posture but Marella avoids it.
A lull in the action here as Marella stalls from top position.
Let's hope that Marella has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Marella wants to take a breather but Goodluck manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Marella.

Giovanni Marella showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Marella wants to advance to full mount but Goodluck doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Goodluck looking for subs off his back but Marella has passed one foot through into half guard.
Goodluck moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Marella wants to control from the top but Goodluck keeps moving.
Goodluck wants to sweep here but Marella controlling him for the moment.
Marella must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Johnson Goodluck.
I think Marella has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
