Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Patryk Szczerbiec (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Wilkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wilkins has chosen Sans Pression - Numero 1 as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
21 - 25 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Patryk Szczerbiec! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
30 - 38 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jay Wilkins! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A head kick misses from Wilkins. Szczerbiec checks a leg kick. Szczerbiec has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Szczerbiec throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Wilkins moves out of range of the strikes. Sloppy strikes from Wilkins. Those never looked like landing. Szczerbiec throws a push kick but Wilkins slaps the foot to one side. Wilkins staying out of range there. Szczerbiec throws a hook but Wilkins avoids it easily. Wilkins paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Szczerbiec displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Wilkins. Wilkins lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Szczerbiec circles away quickly and effectively. Szczerbiec throwing a counter right hand but Wilkins manages to avoid it. Wilkins shoots for a double leg takedown but Szczerbiec sprawls well. He's pushed Wilkins's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. and Szczerbiec counters with a stiff right hand. Wilkins rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Szczerbiec moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Wilkins tries for a takedown but Szczerbiec sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Patryk Szczerbiec has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jay Wilkins. Szczerbiec tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Wilkins manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Szczerbiec will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wilkins takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Szczerbiec misses with a body kick. Szczerbiec avoids the head kick by Wilkins.

Wilkins changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Szczerbiec fights it off and pushes away nicely.
A looping hook to the body misses from Wilkins. Szczerbiec does a little dance to reset his feet. Szczerbiec steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Wilkins. Szczerbiec jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit. Wilkins shoots in but Szczerbiec avoids the takedown attempt easily. A telegraphed right hand from Szczerbiec misses the target.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Szczerbiec tries to keep at a distance but Wilkins has taken the fight into the clinch. Wilkins misses with a knee strike.
Wilkins scores with a shot to the side of Szczerbiec's head. Wilkins drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Szczerbiec gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Wilkins is working for takedown but Szczerbiec is calmly controlling the position for now. Wilkins tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Szczerbiec lands with a short shot to the head. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A head punch on the inside from Szczerbiec fails to land. A short right from Szczerbiec. Szczerbiec throws a head punch that misses. Szczerbiec pressing his opponent against the cage. Szczerbiec blocks a punch to the side of the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Szczerbiec softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Szczerbiec prevents a body shot from Wilkins. Wilkins blocks an uppercut.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Szczerbiec. Szczerbiec leaning his opponent against the cage. Wilkins tries to break the clinch but Szczerbiec is controlling the position. Szczerbiec misses with the head strike.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Wilkins lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Szczerbiec backwards. Wilkins tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Szczerbiec avoids it. Wilkins lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Szczerbiec takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Wilkins wants to take the fight to the mat but Szczerbiec manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Szczerbiec misses with a hook from the clinch. Szczerbiec creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Wilkins's defenses. Wilkins lands an uppercut. Szczerbiec tries a knee to the head but Wilkins blocks it.
Wilkins goes for a takedown attempt but Szczerbiec pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Szczerbiec connects with an inside leg kick. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Some wild striking there from Wilkins.

Szczerbiec is pushing Wilkins up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Wilkins can't get the takedown.
Szczerbiec misses with a hook from the clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Patryk Szczerbiec will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Wilkins shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Szczerbiec's guard. Szczerbiec uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Szczerbiec connects with a leg kick. Wilkins looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Wilkins shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Szczerbiec as he avoids it easily. Wilkins tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Szczerbiec swivels and escapes. Szczerbiec avoids a punch combination nicely.
A nice inside leg kick there by Szczerbiec. That's going to slow Wilkins down. Wilkins stalks Szczerbiec and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Szczerbiec's face. Szczerbiec staggers backwards, shaken. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Wilkins throws a left and a right that both miss
and Szczerbiec counters with a two punch combo. Szczerbiec stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
It looks like Jay Wilkins has been cut. Wilkins has Szczerbiec up against the cage in a clinch.
Wilkins prevents a body shot from Szczerbiec. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. A bit of stalling here from Szczerbiec.

Wilkins takes one to the chin there. Szczerbiec is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Wilkins gets off balance looking for a body kick and Szczerbiec counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Szczerbiec lands a glancing blow to the side of Wilkins's head.
Wilkins is rocked! Wilkins drives through with a takedown into guard. Wilkins is still in real trouble! Can Szczerbiec finish him? Wilkins throws a strike but Szczerbiec rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Szczerbiec has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Wilkins working for submissions but it's allowed Szczerbiec to get to half guard.
Wilkins is breathing heavily. Wilkins on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Szczerbiec is controlling the pace.
Wilkins has a hand on Szczerbiec's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Szczerbiec takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Szczerbiec controlling the position easily from mount. Szczerbiec continues to stall. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wilkins tries to get back to half guard but can't. Szczerbiec tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Wilkins keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Wilkins seems to have recovered his senses. Wilkins is squirming around, avoiding Szczerbiec's attempts to control the action.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wilkins wants to control but Szczerbiec is having none of it. We've been informed that Wilkins has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Wilkins sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Wilkins is pressing down on Szczerbiec's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Wilkins has a closed guard, preventing Szczerbiec from standing up. Wilkins working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Szczerbiec. Szczerbiec wants to control from the top but Wilkins keeps moving. Szczerbiec won't allow Wilkins to sweep him here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Wilkins is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Wilkins wants to sweep but no luck. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Wilkins is on top in guard.
Wilkins throws a big right hand that misses. Wilkins missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Wilkins throwing strikes but missing. Szczerbiec throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Patryk Szczerbiec dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Jay Wilkins's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
A shot to the liver by Wilkins. Beautiful body shot. Wilkins moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Nice sprawl there from Szczerbiec as Wilkins shoots in. Szczerbiec dodges the punch combination from Wilkins.
Wilkins has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Szczerbiec lunges at Wilkins with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Wilkins's hand. Wilkins throws a left and a right that both miss
and Szczerbiec counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Szczerbiec lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Szczerbiec is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Wilkins tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Wilkins blocks the elbow strike.
That's one minute gone in the round. Szczerbiec swings wildly with an uppercut but Wilkins uses good head movement to avoid it. Szczerbiec lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Szczerbiec taking a breather. Szczerbiec holding his opponent close, against the cage.

Wilkins turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Wilkins manages to end up in side control. Wilkins throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Wilkins scoring with punches from side control. Wilkins cracks Szczerbiec with a big right hand but Szczerbiec just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Wilkins throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Szczerbiec works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. Szczerbiec holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wilkins thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Szczerbiec's head. Wilkins thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Szczerbiec trying to hold on to Wilkins's head to control him but Wilkins postures up.
Szczerbiec knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wilkins on the ground. Szczerbiec is positioning himself well to prevent Wilkins advancing to mount. Wilkins throwing shots but Szczerbiec is blocking nicely. Wilkins is working for a submission of some sort.
Wilkins is trying to work for a kimura but Szczerbiec is defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Szczerbiec avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Wilkins. Szczerbiec moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Patryk Szczerbiec is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Wilkins forces his way into half guard. Wilkins has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Wilkins is working for a submission of some sort.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Szczerbiec taking some punishment here, with Wilkins in his half guard. Wilkins thows a huge punch but Szczerbiec dodges it nicely.

It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Szczerbiec defends it well. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. And that's the end of the fight! Jay Wilkins comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Szczerbiec has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
