Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Gray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carl Swann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Carlos Gray!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Carl Swann!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Sam Margolis and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Swann with a jab.
Gray could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Swann clinches with his opponent.
Swann taking a breather.

Swann breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Gray is pressed up against the cage. Swann has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Gray down to the mat. Gray avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Gray looks to land a body kick but Swann moved away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gray throws a leg kick

and Swann holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Swann drops down looking for an ankle pick but Gray pulls his leg out and moves away.

Swann has taken the fight to the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Swann is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Gray to keep the fight standing.
Carlos Gray has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carl Swann.
Gray throws an elbow but it misses.

Gray breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Swann falls off balance throwing a combination

and Gray counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Swann manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Gray keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Gray is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Gray wants the takedown. Swann is fighting it off but Gray persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Swann's guard against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Gray decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Swann darts in and clinches Gray up against the cage.
Gray goes for a takedown in the clinch but Swann prevents it.

Gray jumps guard and drags Swann to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Swann got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gray has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Swann has managed to get both his arms back between Gray's legs - danger averted.

Swann throws a strike but Gray rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Gray makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Gray has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Swann is proving hard to escape from.
Swann trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gray decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Swann, up you get!

Swann has closed the distance and engaged Gray in a clinch.
Swann wants a takedown but no success here.

Swann breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Carl Swann seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Swann shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gray pinned against the cage. Gray gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Gray tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Swann manages to circle out of the way.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Swann looks for a takedown but Gray sprawls well.
As Swann tries to get set, Gray tries to push him back and clinch up but Swann manages to avoid the attempt.
Swann looks winded!
Gray throws a head kick that half lands.
Gray tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Swann swivels and escapes.

Swann gets a takedown into half guard.
Gray tries to kick Swann off in order to stand up. Swann Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Carl Swann will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Swann is defended easily by Gray.
Carlos Gray is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Swann darts in and clinches Gray up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Swann slows down the pace here.
Gray is trying to drag Swann to the mat but Swann just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Gray goes for a takedown attempt but Swann pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Swann shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gray as he jumps to the side.

Gray clinches up with Swann and pushes him back against the cage.

Gray manages to break the clinch.
Swann fails with a takedown attempt.
Carlos Gray has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carl Swann.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Swann throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Swann throws a head kick that misses
and Gray counters with a solid body kick.
Gray scores with a jab.
Gray misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Swann stalks Gray and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Gray's face. Gray staggers backwards, shaken.
Swann avoids the head kick by Gray.

Gray closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gray lands in his opponent's guard.
Swann is breathing heavily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Swann is adopting a defensive guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gray won't allow Swann to sweep him here.

Gray drops back looking for a leg! Swann is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Swann manages to kick Gray off! Gray jumps back into Swann's guard.
Gray wants to get up but he can't break Swann's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Swann has a closed guard, preventing Gray from standing up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Swann can do anything to dispel that myth.
Swann is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Gray wants to stand but Swann is controlling his posture from full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Swann misses with a takedown attempt
and Gray counters with a left and a right that stings Swann.

Gray gets caught flat footed, as Swann shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Gray looking to hit a scissor sweep but Swann is one step ahead there.

Gray is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Swann defends well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Gray will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carlos Gray dominated that second round.
That's time! Gray's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Swann shoots in and drives through. Gray sprawls well.

Swann rushes Gray and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Swann keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Gray's efforts to push away.

Swann breaks the clinch.

Swann feints and as Gray raises his hands in defense, Swann changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Gray manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Swann throws a leg kick that is checked

and Gray counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Gray.
Carl Swann seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Swann works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Gray is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Swann pulls him back up using the underhooks.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Gray gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Swann really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gray. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Gray stands up out of the half guard.
Swann shoots in but Gray avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Gray appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Swann scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Swann misses with a low kick as Gray jumps back.
Gray looks for the body kick but Swann saw that one coming.

Swann moves into the clinch.

Swann pulls guard successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Gray has gone for a leg lock! Swann slips out almost immediately though and dives into Gray's guard.

Swann prevents Gray from getting back to his feet.
Gray bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Swann's guard.

Gray is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Gray would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Gray wants to control from the top but Swann keeps moving.
Gray forces his way into half guard.

Gray is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Gray scoring with strikes to the body and head.

Gray is looking for a kimura but Swann is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gray to get the leverage.

Gray decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Gray avoids the head kick by Swann.
Swann moves out of range as Gray throws a body kick.

Swann moves into the clinch.
Swann is pressed up against the cage. Gray has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Swann down to the mat. Swann avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Swann misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gray looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Horrible takedown attempt by Swann or perhaps it was just good defense by Gray, which made it look bad.
As Swann looks to move away, Gray throws a big counter combo bu Swann just gets out of the way.
Carlos Gray has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carl Swann.
Gray throws a body kick that misses.
Swann lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Swann instigates a clinch.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Carl Swann.
I think Swann has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
