The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flowers gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Apech decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Flowers, up you get!
Flowers closes the distance and clinches up with Apech, looking for a takedown. Flowers pushes Apech against the cage but Apech circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Apech breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Apech shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Flowers manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Flowers manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Flowers manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Apech keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Flowers is trying to trip Apech. He has hold of a leg but Apech is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Flowers persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Flowers could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Flowers manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Apech has picked Flowers up - he's going for a ride! Apech dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Flowers shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Apech napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Flowers connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Apech some visible discomfort.
