PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lester Horton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenneth Ank (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ank is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by RATM. Kenneth Ank is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Lester Horton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Kenneth Ank!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Sam Margolis and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Horton gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Ank to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Ank controlling from the top position.
Let's hope that Ank has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Ank passes Horton's left leg - he's now in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ank is trying to control. Horton wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ank stops Horton from getting back to his feet.
Ank keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Ank wants to take a breather but Horton is having none of it.
Ank wants to pass the guard but Horton is defending well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ank shoots in for a double leg but Horton sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Horton misses with a double jab.

Ank closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Horton to the mat! Horton manages to get full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Horton keeping moving, preventing Ank from controlling successfully.
Ank controlling from the top position.
Ank working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Ank wants to control from the top but Horton keeps moving.

Horton is working an open guard so Ank takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ank fails with a takedown attempt.

Horton rushes Ank and presses him up against the cage.

Ank breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Horton fails with an attempt to clinch.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Ank! But no joy.
Horton tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ank swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Ank drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Horton defends it well.

Horton darts in and clinches Ank up against the cage.
Ank looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Horton lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Horton prevents the takedown attempt.
Lester Horton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kenneth Ank.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Horton manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Ank wants to stand but Horton is controlling his posture from full guard.

Horton uses the cage to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Lester Horton will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Ank shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Horton napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Horton gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Ank controlling the position easily from mount.
Horton tries to reverse the position but Ank maintains control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Horton tries to buck Ank off but he can't manage it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ank tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Ank is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Ank closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Horton to the mat! Horton manages to get full guard.
Ank trying to control the position from guard on top but Horton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Horton is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Horton keeping full guard, as Ank tries to pass.
Horton will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Horton wants to stand up but Ank is controlling him.

Ank stands and steps away. Horton gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Ank tries to clinch but Horton moves out of range.
Ank swats away the attempt to clinch by Horton.
Ank lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ank swats away the attempt to clinch by Horton.
Horton sets himself, and Ank steps forward looking for the clinch! Horton avoids it this time.
Ank fails to land with a series of punches.
Ank tries to score a power double leg takedown but Horton sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ank somewhat.
Horton tries to counter with a takedown but Ank is quick to defend against it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Horton clinches.
Horton lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Horton digs a right hand underneath Ank's ribcage. Ank let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ank has Horton pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Horton manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Horton gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Kenneth Ank will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Horton gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Horton stalling in the clinch.
Horton slows down the pace here.
Horton gets a warning from the ref for wasting time.
Ank changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Horton fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Horton doesn't manage to clinch there - Ank circles away.
Ank is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ank has his takedown stuffed
and Horton counters with a straight right hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Horton closes the distance and clinches.
Ank is trying to break the clinch but Horton has him pressed against the cage.

Horton breaks the clinch.

Ank clinches.
Ank wants to break free but Horton has control.
Horton holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Ank wants to break the clinch but can't.
Knees in the clinch landing for Horton.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ank letting Horton take a breather here.

Horton pulls Ank into guard.
Ank looking to sit in guard and control but Horton gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Ank looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Ank looking for a guillotine here but Horton defends easily.
Ank takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Horton works over Ank with some ground and pound from guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Horton wants to control from the top but Ank keeps moving.

Ank has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Horton can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Horton drops back looking for a leg! Ank is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ank manages to kick Horton off! Horton jumps back into Ank's guard.
Horton won't allow Ank to get back to his feet.
Ank can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Horton controls the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ank has momentary wrist control but Horton slips an elbow through the middle.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Horton sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Horton has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Horton is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ank can do to turn this around?
Ank is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Ank is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Horton is stalling in the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Horton closes the distance and pushes Ank back into the cage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Lester Horton showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Horton has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
