Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Jeremy Ring!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bobby Butcher!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Butcher misses with a head kick.
Ring misses with a body shot
and Butcher counters with a good low kick that Ring was not able to check.
Ring throws a right hand that Butcher ducks under and follows up with a left that Butcher also avoids with ease.
Ring feints and then cracks Butcher's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Butcher down.
Ring misses with a few strikes there.
Butcher will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Butcher fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Ring on the side of the head.
Butcher is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Ring.
Butcher throws a right and a left that Ring avoids nicely.
Butcher pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Ring back to the cage. Butcher follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ring misses with a leg kick
and Butcher cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Ring throws a sloppy head kick and Butcher moves out of range easily.
Ring misses with a double jab.

Butcher closes the distance and clinches.
Butcher goes for a takedown in the clinch but Ring prevents it.

Butcher breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

A slow jab from Ring misses its intended target.
Butcher doesn't manage to clinch there - Ring circles away.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Ring, right into the meat.
Butcher misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from Ring. Butcher does a little dance to reset his feet.
Ring moves out of range of the leg kick from Butcher.
Ring throws a head kick but Butcher moves out of range.
Butcher rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ring moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Butcher throws a right and a left that both miss.
Butcher scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

Butcher shoots in and bounces Ring off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Ring wriggles free and stands up.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Butcher moves in looking to clinch but Ring pushes him off.

Butcher closes the distance and clinches up with Ring, looking for a takedown. Butcher pushes Ring against the cage but Ring circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

As Butcher tries to get set, Ring tries to push him back and clinch up but Butcher manages to avoid the attempt.

Butcher fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Bobby Butcher seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Butcher feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Butcher is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Butcher wants to stand but Ring has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Butcher wants to pass the guard but Ring is keeping the position.

Butcher stands and steps away. Ring gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Ring gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Butcher forces Ring back against the cage and clinches.
Butcher gets through Ring's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Butcher looking for a takedown.

Ring breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ring pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Butcher back to the cage. Ring follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ring plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Butcher scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Ring kicks off Butcher and gets to his feet.
Ring throws a sloppy head kick and Butcher moves out of range easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Butcher moves out of range as Ring throws a body kick.
Ring avoids a punch combination nicely.
Ring is looking to score with low kicks.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jeremy Ring will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Butcher shoots in looking for a takedown but Ring manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Butcher's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Butcher is trying hard to land a takedown here. Ring sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
An attempted straight right counter from Ring misses the target.

Ring takes the fight into the clinch.
Butcher lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Ring gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Butcher breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Butcher tries to bum rush Ring with a series of wild strikes but Ring uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Ring fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Butcher has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ring fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Butcher.
Butcher lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Butcher keeps Ring at a distance using the push kick.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Ring. Butcher shrugs it off though.
Butcher tests Ring's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Ring lands a nice looking body kick.
Nice shot lands for Ring.
Ring turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Ring misses with a lunging right hand
and Butcher counters with a straight right hand.
Butcher scores with a jab to the head.
Butcher throws a poor cross that misses

and Ring counters with a crisp one two that drops Butcher! Ring thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Butcher to his feet! Butcher is in big trouble!


Butcher is rocked!
Ring keeps the fight on the outside.
It appears Ring was looking to counter with a kick there.
Butcher is still on wobbly legs! Can Ring finish him?
Ring needs to keep his hands up - Butcher had a free shot at his head there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Butcher takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

Look low, kick high! Ring uses the oldest trick in the book to send Butcher tumbling to the canvas, in a truly brutal knockout! Ring is absolutely delighted - when Butcher wakes up, I doubt he'll be quite so happy!
