PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Pain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andy Askren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Askren has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Andy Askren told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Andrew Pain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Andy Askren!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Bart Greer and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Askren throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pain's waist but Pain gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Askren off to one side.
Andy Askren seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Askren looks winded!
Pain looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Pain uses his free foot to push down on Askren's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Askren.
Askren is bucking up trying to escape but Pain cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
That has opened up Andy Askren's cut even more.
Pain raining down hammerfists from mount.
The cut above Andy Askren's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Askren really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pain. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Pain working the ground and pound effectively.
Andy Askren's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Andy Askren's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Andrew Pain!
