Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 38 - 31 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vince Dixon!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Dixon. D Amato does a little dance to reset his feet.
A little feinted left hand from D Amato on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Dixon shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. D Amato defends it nicely.

Dixon forces D Amato back against the cage and clinches.
A quick uppercut on the inside from D Amato.


It looks like Vince Dixon has been cut.
D Amato lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Dixon landing some nice looking knees to the body.
A quick uppercut on the inside from D Amato.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Dixon.
D Amato on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Dixon misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from D Amato.
Dixon blocks an uppercut.

D Amato manages to break the clinch.
Dixon throws a head kick but D Amato moves out of range.
D Amato darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Dixon misses with a leg kick
letting D Amato counter with a right hand.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Dixon turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Dixon has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from D Amato.
Vince Dixon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's one minute gone in the round.
No luck for Dixon with that takedown attempt.
Dixon throws an off balance right hand
and D Amato counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Dixon misses with a wild body shot.
D Amato swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Dixon has managed to clinch.
D Amato lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Dixon or not.
Dixon scores a nice knee to the body.
D Amato lands on the inside with an uppercut.
D Amato blocks an elbow strike from Dixon.

D Amato escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Michael D Amato is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Dixon misses with a leg kick
and D Amato counters with a stiff right hand.
D Amato checks the leg kick nicely there.
D Amato misses with a looping right.
Dixon throws a jab but it's blocked by D Amato.
Dixon tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Dixon throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. D Amato tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Dixon is in D Amato's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Dixon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. D Amato swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We've been hearing good reports from D Amato's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Dixon's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
D Amato is looking to stand up but Dixon isn't so interested in that idea.
Dixon trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Dixon trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Dixon forces his way into half guard.
D Amato wants to get back to his feet.
Dixon is looking to advance position but D Amato won't allow it.
D Amato is trying to stand back up but Dixon is controlling him

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dixon perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
D Amato is staying active underneath Dixon, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Dixon seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Dixon prevents D Amato from standing back up.
Dixon is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for D Amato!
D Amato in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
D Amato is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Dixon in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Dixon is in the full mount, landing strikes.
D Amato takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Dixon's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vince Dixon!
