PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brad Dillinger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yuuga Ikeda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Yuuga Ikeda was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brad Dillinger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Yuuga Ikeda!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ikeda instigates a clinch.
Ikeda manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Ikeda lands a takedown into guard.

Dillinger pushes Ikeda off and gets back to his feet.
Ikeda shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dillinger as he avoids it easily.
Dillinger is looking to counter the offense by Ikeda and move into the clinch.
Ikeda tries to clinch there but Dillinger circles away.

Dillinger gets caught napping as Ikeda dives in and scores a takedown. Dillinger manages to retain guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ikeda working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Dillinger pulls Ikeda in to control the position.
Dillinger has a closed guard, preventing Ikeda from standing up.
Ikeda scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Ikeda trying to control the position from guard on top but Dillinger is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Dillinger is striking but Ikeda is not phased and passes to half guard.

Dillinger has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ikeda is working away from the top position though.
Dillinger is concentrating on defense, preventing Ikeda from advancing position.

Ikeda chips away with some ground and pound.
Ikeda trying to move into half guard but instead Dillinger has managed to sweep!

Dillinger passes Ikeda's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Dillinger is trying to control the action in half guard but Ikeda is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Ikeda is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Ikeda is staying active underneath Dillinger, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Dillinger throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Dillinger is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Dillinger wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ikeda keeps working.

Ikeda is defending against the submission attempts here by Dillinger.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dillinger slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Ikeda wants to sweep but no luck.
Ikeda can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Dillinger controls the pace.
Dillinger is standing up over Ikeda. Ikeda looks to escape but Dillinger dives into side control.
You can see the frustration on Ikeda's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ikeda is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Brad Dillinger will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Ikeda is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Dillinger shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ikeda as he jumps to the side.
Dillinger throws a series of punches but Ikeda moves out of range.

Ikeda fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Dillinger to the ground. Ikeda is now in Dillinger's guard.
Ikeda throws a strike but Dillinger rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Ikeda wants to stand and escape but Dillinger is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dillinger slips nicely into half guard.

Dillinger is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Ikeda doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Dillinger.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ikeda is trying to stand.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Dillinger thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Ikeda blocking the ground and pound attempt from Dillinger.
Ikeda is refusing to be controlled, as Dillinger sits in half guard.
Ikeda wants to get back to his feet.
Dillinger stalling.
Dillinger throwing shots but Ikeda is blocking nicely.

Dillinger stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Ikeda to get to his feet.

Dillinger throws a head kick but Ikeda moves out of range.
Ikeda darts in looking for a takedown but Dillinger gets double underhooks and turns Ikeda into the cage.
Dillinger takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

Dillinger bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Ikeda is looking to reverse the position.
Ikeda is not content to let Dillinger control the position.
Ikeda is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Dillinger is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Dillinger goes for an armbar but Ikeda turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Ikeda.
Ikeda prevents Dillinger from getting back to his feet.
Ikeda landing some decent shots from guard.
Dillinger looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dillinger looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ikeda is one step ahead there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brad Dillinger dominated that second round.
That's time! Dillinger's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Dillinger shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ikeda sprawls well. Ikeda wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dillinger gets slowly back to his feet.

and Dillinger makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Ikeda tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Dillinger defends well and Ikeda ends up having to push Dillinger into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Ikeda breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Dillinger changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ikeda tries to avoid it but Dillinger manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ikeda to the ground. Ikeda escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Dillinger tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ikeda sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dillinger somewhat.
Dillinger throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ikeda's waist but Ikeda gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dillinger off to one side.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Ikeda tries to bum rush Dillinger with a series of wild strikes but Dillinger uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
It looked like Dillinger was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Dillinger throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ikeda's waist but Ikeda gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dillinger off to one side.
Dillinger shoots in but Ikeda avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Yuuga Ikeda comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
