PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ramiro Delgado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luke Svarog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Luke Svarog told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ramiro Delgado!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Luke Svarog!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Svarog shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Svarog was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Delgado bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Delgado lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.


It looks like Luke Svarog has been cut.
Nice takedown defense from Delgado. No joy for Svarog on that attempt.
Svarog looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Svarog looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Delgado is fending him off so far but Svarog persists. Nope, Delgado circles away and we're back to standing.
Ramiro Delgado has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Luke Svarog.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Delgado uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Svarog.

Svarog throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Delgado was covering up waiting for the punch and Svarog finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Delgado escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Svarog gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Delgado pulls Svarog in close to prevent any damage.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Svarog tries to stand but Delgado is controlling from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Delgado wants to take the fight to the mat but Svarog manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Delgado has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Svarog avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Svarog jumps guard and drags Delgado to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Svarog wriggles free and stands up.
Delgado keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Svarog changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Delgado tries to avoid it but Svarog manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Delgado to the ground. Delgado escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Svarog shoots in and drives through. Delgado sprawls well.
Delgado is looking to counter the offense by Svarog and move into the clinch.

Svarog lands an uppercut.
Delgado tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Svarog just stands there and leans against the cage.
Svarog should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Delgado ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Delgado no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Svarog cracks Delgado with a solid left hand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Delgado controls Svarog momentarily but Svarog frees himself.
Svarog would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Ramiro Delgado will probably get the nod.

and Delgado counters by clinching up.

Svarog has Delgado pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Delgado manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Luke Svarog seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Delgado throws a punch but it's blocked by Svarog.

Delgado is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Delgado can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Svarog controls the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Delgado has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Svarog can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Svarog is looking to stand up but Delgado won't let him.

Delgado shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Svarog but Svarog pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

And Svarog tries to counter it with a takedown but Delgado pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Svarog must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Svarog accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ramiro Delgado will probably get the nod.

Svarog shoots in for a takedown but Delgado shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Svarog looking to sit in guard and control but Delgado gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Svarog is on top in guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Svarog drives through and clinches with Delgado against the cage.

Delgado tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ramiro Delgado.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Delgado, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
